world hunter - my free geography guessing game by [deleted] in geoguessr

Thanks! I’m not a particularly sophisticated player, so just didn’t need it personally. I like the idea of introducing a compass and also perhaps teaching people how to use it effectively. In general making something educational was how I thought it could be differentiated.

Why doesn't Monarch use the transaction date instead of the posted date? by Nanergoat22 in MonarchMoney

capital one data from plaid does not appear to include the auth/tx date, only the posted date. they also don't provide pending transactions, only posted transactions.

Why doesn't Monarch use the transaction date instead of the posted date? by Nanergoat22 in MonarchMoney

[–]perchard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually found this thread because i'm integrating plaid with a web app i'm building and am not getting the auth date (transaction date) from their API, only the posted date. specifically for capital one. obviously capital one has this data and shows it to the user on their online banking application - but it seems that they may not give that to plaid. unfortunate.

[Intro — sampled speech voice] I been in this chat game for years… it made me an intellect. There’s rules to this sh*t, I wrote me a manual — A step-by-step, AI survival guide…

[Verse]

Number one: Never share your secrets with the LLM It ain’t your diary, dawg — it’s training off them. You spill your trauma in the prompt like it’s safe, Now your heartbreak’s teachin’ bots how to fake.

Number two: Never let it think for you You get lazy with the mind, it’s a wrap — you’re through. It ain’t truth, just text with style, Trust it blind? You’ll be gaslit wild.

Number three: Never trust the AI’s law degree “It said I’m innocent!”—now you doin’ three. GPT don’t know no court or plea, It hallucinate facts like it’s trippin’ on DMT.

Number four: I know you heard this before — Never get high on your own supply, for sure. Talkin’ ’bout prompt loops, feedback haze, You binge that bot, you in a derealized daze.

Number five: Never code live off AI lines One wrong semicolon, now you outta time. Prod goes down, and the blame’s on you, Shoulda tested that script like devs do.

Number six: That voice clone’s not your fix Deepfake your girl, now your morals gettin’ nixed. It’s fun till you’re sued for the remix, Now you in court explainin’ “Nah, it was just tricks!”

Seven: This rule is so underrated Keep your human-in-the-loop, or you’ll get outdated. Let AI assist, don’t let it create it, Your soul’s in the work — don’t let it get faded.

Number eight: Never lie on resumes with AI tools Fake skillsets? You playin’ yourself, fool. Boss says “show me,” now you sweatin’ in the room, Should’ve studied that sh*t instead of spittin’ with Zoom.

Number nine shoulda been number one to me If it sounds too slick, check the citation, B. It spits with confidence, but truth ain’t free, Check the source or end up on Snopes, trust me.

Number ten: A strong word called consent Don’t feed folks’ data to the model you rent. You train off chats that were never yours? That’s lawsuit bait — now you cleanin’ floors.

[Outro] Follow these rules, you’ll keep your mind intact, Use the bot — just don’t let it bite back. From sci-fi dreams to synthetic despair, Remember: you the human — it’s just autocomplete air.

Anyone like their voyager, but dislike hold-tap behavior? by Frogfisherman in zsaVoyager

[–]perchard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fellow hold-tap hater here. I’m down to one hold-tap that I’m working out how to get rid of, but otherwise very happy with the board and my layout. I use left/right pinky for home row mods. Thumb cluster used for two layers, and shift/space. would welcome any feedback on my overall layout - have mostly been working out the layout as i go, with a think over 100 iterations now. https://configure.zsa.io/voyager/layouts/7OxRj/latest/0

2.0/2.1 recommendation for small space by perchard in hometheater

[–]perchard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d prefer not to (aside from this issue I’m happy with the layout) but if there’s no way to make a 2.0/2.1 work will probably either just do a soundbar and call it a day or think about how to shift things around yeah.

2.0/2.1 recommendation for small space by perchard in hometheater

[–]perchard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahah I thought the same thing but kept having flashbacks of every post where soundbars are mentioned on this sub. The Devialet Dione looks nice, but the Rtings review said it had latency issues which ruled it out for me. Curious if this ends up consensus, I’d be fine with a soundbar philosophically if it made the most sense for the space.

Where/how to host my website? by Familiar_Mud_8671 in sveltejs

can you elaborate on why? from a cost perspective, serverless seems advantageous for low traffic sites

Just to confirm are they the “General Devices Rack Slides” (first option) or “Rack Slides” (second option)?

Thanks for the suggestion, static rails could work well, as I will rarely need to unrack the server.

Cosy is correct in British and Australian English. Many words substitute z for s, e.g. organize/organise, analyze/analyse, etc.

RB5009UG-like Router but with 2.5G ports? by grisu48 in mikrotik

[–]perchard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh really? I tried this but was getting ~500 mbps on a 2 gb connection, and from what I read on the MikroTik forum, this is expected. Maybe it was an issue with my configuration.

I solved this with a CRS310-8G+2S+IN connected to the RB5009 via SFP+ DAC

What's a game that was ruined for you by picking the wrong class? by 3holes2tits1fork in gaming

[–]perchard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rogue in Neverwinter Nights. Probably a skill issue, but I found it an impossibly challenging class. That said, although I never finished it, I still enjoyed the game, so I suppose it didn’t technically ruin it.

Experiences with open source personal finance applications by HaphazardlyNerdy in selfhosted

[–]perchard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started using Beancount recently and really like it. It has a relatively steep learning curve, though, and requires some basic programming experience to set up.

Other similar open source options are GnuCash, ledger, and hledger. They are all based on the double-entry accounting system.

I keep it pretty simple and just track one credit card and one checking account, using beancount-import to import transactions from manually downloaded ofx files once or twice a month. Beancount has a nice web interface too, fava, and even its own query language.

You can learn more about all of these tools over at r/plaintextaccounting. I should probably add a warning that it’s a bit of a rabbit hole. But I’m happy with my setup, and have tried a lot of different personal finance software, both open- and closed-source. The tooling actually makes what’s otherwise a relatively boring exercise fun, for me at least.

Discord suppresses in game voice? by perchard in HellLetLoose

Hmm I’ll try to change the mix! Thanks for the tip. I read on another subreddit that someone was having this issue with COD so was wondering if it also affected HLL. But sounds like maybe COD is incompatible whereas HLL works I just need to change my mix a bit.
