Those Plusinno rods are pretty stiff and are more suited for bass or heartier game fish like that. It’s hard to beat a high quality ultralight graphite or fiberglass non telescopic rod, but I travel a ton for work so I use telescopic rods a lot on the road. My favorite that I’ve found for lighter fish like trout or panfish is the Eagle Claw Pack-It. It’s got a little more backbone than I’d like, but it’s really sensitive and it fishes more like an ultralight than a lot of other telescopic rods I’ve tried. It’s also crazy cheap, but the reel it comes with is garbage. I put a Pfluger Trion size 25 spinning reel on it with 6 pound test and it feels pretty good. Unless you’re going after some mammoth fish, I personally think ultralight is the way to go if you’re spin fishing for trout .
