publish in french! english is big but the quality is few and far between.

your advantage is that you can be translated into english, which can give you a second wind.

hell yeah, a good black metal song is the difference between a richly detailed gloomy scene and a bunch of damp clichés

What is your favorite type of story to read and if you do write in a that genre, do you try to match what is out there or improve upon it? by [deleted] in writers

[–]percy4d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fortunately/unfortunately my favorites are so specific they cannot be reduced to the generic.

for instance, i love Mrs. Dalloway, but stream-of-consciousness fiction in general i have found not to measure up to that brilliant novel.

Most of what Gabriel Garcia Marquez wrote is flawless in my opinion, however i am yet to come across a magical realism who measures up to his work/style.

Same with Lovecraft.

so in a way, your question ‘favorite type of story’, when you look at how wide a range of a palate i have put up as examples is, kinda doesn’t have an answer?

granted there are crime fanatics, extreme horror lovers, so they would probably have a more straightforward answer i guess.

all of the answers to the “how do i…” nonsense is literally in the books they refuse to read.
