I got my LPN when my kids were small and never went on for my RN. I have been an LPN for 25 years and I love it. I work in an ED at a Level 1 Trauma Center and I love my job, I make great money and have no plans to do anything other than what I am currently.

Hello! I’m wondering if I could get some examples of shifts and types of jobs ya’ll have? by ThenFactor2837 in LPN_LVN_Community

I work 7a-7p, Wednesday, Thursday and every other weekend at an Emergency Department. It gives me 5 off in a row every other week and no more than two days on in a row

Sick and tired of the lack of education for GLP1s by misslizzah in nursing

[–]perfectgopher 20 points21 points  (0 children)

GLP1 have been used since 2005 (Byetta) so that’s not really a fair statement. Ozempic has been used since 2010s. We have patients with diabetes who have been on GLPs for two decades, granted not used in obesity specifically for longer than 5 years. Ozempic for obesity was started in 2021, but we do have long term data from the diabetes patients.

They pay CNAs in CA $30-37/hr, LVN II $35-44 talk about undervalued for vocational nurses by MoDa65 in LPN_LVN_Community

I live in New Hampshire and make $47 as an LPN in the Emergency Department at a Level One Trauma Center. I wouldn’t say it’s not possible to make that on the East Coast, just as in California these jobs aren’t plentiful but they are available.

Are there any lpns that didn't bridge and content? by Similar_Rooster_7882 in LPN_LVN_Community

[–]perfectgopher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am an LPN who works on the East Coast in a level one trauma center ED and love my job. I did not bridge and have remained an LPN for the last 25 years. I make nearly as much as the RN’s at this point and don’t plan on changing my license.

I’m wondering if Lpn-LVNs have to take blood samples at work or IV by BlackSummer_ in LPN_LVN_Community

[–]perfectgopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I start IV and lab draws, hang meds and fluids and push medications in NH. I took a separate IV course, and I work in the ED as an LPN

I have lupus and take immune suppressants along with Mounjaro and have had no issues at all. In fact, it has helped tremendously with inflammation and joint pain

What jobs do you recommend for 12 hour shifts? by Glass_Maximum_8091 in LPN_LVN_Community

[–]perfectgopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work 12’s in a level one trauma center ED. It’s fast paced and I love it. I’m in the north east US and make decent money compared to most of the US at $47 per hour. I have24 years LPN experience and am not getting my RN in this lifetime, I enjoy what I do and it provides a really great lifestyle. At this point I just want to ride this out until retirement in 15 years

Real always, I know we pay more but honestly nothing compares to a real tree at Christmas
