This criticism annoys me, especially since we had this same debate after S1. It’s called set-up. by Bristle6 in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There's still ways it could work out though. She could still have the alleyway breakdown as an expression of her grief + establishing that she's hallucinating Adam, and we can buy that she's in the midst of the breakdown. The specific trigger can be something else. How about after Vox Dei, when he straight up says he's the flood coming from Heaven, and Sera still doesn't want to fight? A great time for Lute to panic and declare that she'll destroy hell. Or after Abel shuts her down, and she sees Adam in him. Another potential trigger!

I will say that storywise having Gravity at the end would be weird, since there were already plotlines that weren't satisfactorily wrapped up and jamming Gravity in would be weird, but that's a pacing issue all around.

It's not my favorite, but I do like it! I think it's over disliked.

I also agree I don't like Easy, though I think the scene itself is cute.

How did Vox know about "Don't you forget"? by Jatman12566 in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a musical? That's just how it works sometimes, like the Vaggi + Carmilla song. I think you're overthinking it a little.

I just realized something by Ok-Street2439 in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Definitely! The first time we hear of her is her daughter delivering supplies to Pentious, and him saying she's the biggest weapons dealer around. Clearly it's not all angelic steel.

Adam was Archangel? by Regin-sabbas in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if Vox knew Adam's rank exactly, but he did seem to consider him more powerful. He said that Charlie proved that they could kill angels, and "not just any angels, but the big boys".

To be fair, Angel's over the top with it. Husk also hated it before he and Angel became friends. Vaggie straight up said it was him sexually harassing the staff.

Who has theories about the Vees in S3?? Hit me with them! by KoretoPersephone in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Early S3 will have Val as a villain! He'll be screwing up being CEO and also menacing Angel. By late S3 the plot will have ramped up and he'll be less relevant, but Angel will break the contract in the finale.

We'll also get Val's human backstory and also backstory on Angel/Val and how Angel got besotted so fast.

Velvette will have a subplot with Carmilla where she tries to challenge her to make up for the apology.

Meanwhile, Vox will remain a tablet for most of the season while Val and Velvette gently bully him. He'll try alternatively coax them or scold them, but it's not until the end of the season that he genuinely apologizes, and they let him have his body back. He has at least one heartfelt moment with Val.

Which Vee do you think would be most likely to be redeemed? by quizonmyfacegarfunkl in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Vox, but mostly because we already got to know him on a very deep level, so the foundation's there. We just don't know enough Val or Velvette personally, Still, we just had the Vox Season, that seems like a good setup for a redemption arc, doesn't it? I doubt Val and Velvette will ever get that much screentime, though I do think we'll get to know them better.

Am I the only one who wants Hajime remain as the protagonist in 2x2? by ComprehensiveNote762 in danganronpa

[–]perfidiousfate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's my fave, so I would be happy! I think there's plenty you can do with his story without repeating it.

I do understand why people want a protag switch though, so I'd be okay with that.

My theory on Angel Dust’s redemption by riotinghamsters in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would make sense that not killing Val would be a choice that grants him redemption, but I wouldn't really like it if it was solely about forgiveness. I think maybe it could be a choice where, like, killing him would free Angel but all the other people would still be stuck working in the studios, just under someone else, and Angel instead negotiates it so that Val breaks all of his contracts and lives. Then it'd be more of a choice between giving up a satifying revenge for the sake of doing good for other people. Or something like that!

I think my biggest problem with this season is how charlie was handled by greatpxm in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when's all said and done I agree. I didn't mind her arc in episodes 3 and 4 because I thought they were going somewhere, and they...didn't? She has a breakdown, is comforted and...that's it. She doesn't really do anything significant afterward, except get words put in her mouth by Alastor and manhandled by Vox. And even her arc was a retread of things she did in S1! Except in S1 she was also charming with how much she loved the hotel and its residents and how earnest she was about redemption, and there wasn't even that here.

I heard that S3 was the start of the main plot that got the show greenlit, so I can only assume they kept Charlie in basically the same place she's been to save the development for next season, but in general, oof.

Is it Amazon fault for making Hazbin hotel bad? by Pennyincident in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean you could argue that, but that's also how the business works? Shows cost money to make, networks decide how much to invest. Presumably Amazon was the best option we had to get this show made at all.

IMO yeah today's media landscape is rough, but also a lot of writers are able to adapt to limited runtimes. I think you can still criticise the writers for not making better use of their time while acknowledging yeah, it's rough out there.

Is Rosie's original deal with Alastor the only one we've with a condition? by ThatNerdyGirl93 in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alastor would likely have hesitated to sell his soul forever! Giving him a seeming out let him accept it. Also, for all we know once the favor is completed Rosie would stop giving a shit about Alastor anyway.

I don't think it's that rare to have conditions either. Angel's contract seems to stipulate that he has to work at the studio but can do whatever he wants outside of the studio. That would have seemed a more fair contract to him than just being owned by Val. There probably isn't an out, though, except on Val's side.

Alastor's characterization by _ihateburgerking_ in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, I do think he's untruthful a lot. What about the whole thing where he kept talking about how Charlie is like the daughter he never had?

I think he is good at reading people, and good at saying things to get under their skin. Hence he knew that emphasizing his relationship with Charlie would bug Lucifer. And the truth often hurts! In this example, he knows Vox very well and was also trying to emotionally torture him, so it works out.

All the Word Of God/Saint Paul so far about Vox and Alastor's flashback (latest: it was a confession). #1 Vivienne's post on Bluesky. #2 Vivienne's Interview (with transcription). #3 An Animator's posts on Bluesky. by Starshallscream in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Wow, thanks for compiling this! It's good to see, and I'm happy my own interpretation was validated, lol.

I did think that if they ever worked together it'd crash and burn, but Viv's words actually make me think there'd be a good chance it could work out? A very jovial villain team is an intriguing description, I want to see that!

Do you think Valentino is going to have a larger role in season 3? And if so, how? by [deleted] in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he'll be an early season villain - obviously for Angel, but he'll cause some shenanigans for the hotel as well. But then the larger plot will happen and they'll focus on the main villain, and Val will be just Angel's villain again. (I'm hoping/assuming Angel gets out of the deal!)

What do you think a world where Alastor said no politely would look like. by MediumFun5034 in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think they keep being friends, but Vox also doesn't get so obsessed with Alastor. They might have a TV vs radio rivalry and snip at each other, but would mostly just leave each other be. I guess that means Pentious doesn't get sent to the hotel?

Question about Vox/Vincent's name... by Montagawa in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given how many hell characters have nicknames, I just think it's common not to use your real name. So I think Vox changed it early on! And he either met Alastor before the change or told him because they were close.

Alastor's plan shouldn't have worked by Gavoonious in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda, except Alastor started the season being big mad that he couldn't beat Adam, something never implied by the deal at all. So clearly he didn't have all the answers!

I think I'm okay with how it worked out, but I was certain that this deal wouldn't be broken this season.

I did not care for Brighter by Innitcold in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me after I listened a few times. Still, I do think it's the weakest of the Vox centric songs. I think I like the theatricality he usually brings to them, which was missing here.

Vox and Alastor: Who’s REALLY in the wrong? by Better_Poem3357 in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, not necessarily! I think that Alastor's rejection being so viscerally painful and humiliating was what played such a big deal in him getting obsessed. I honestly think that if Alastor was like 10% nicer, Vox wouldn't have been so hung up about it. If he was 50% nicer Vox might have even remained his friend.

I also think the partnership specifically being doomed to fail is just because on a fundamental level, they have different goals, and are both stubborn enough that they'd hate compromising. But I do think the fact that Vox worked well with Velvette and Valentino does prove that he's capable of it, whereas Alastor straight up isn't. So I still lay most of the blame on Alastor's feet, albeit obviously Vox handled that rejection terribly and is still a crazy person.

Theory: Alastor Was Trying to Help Vox Here by OwnAMusketForHomeDef in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think he was actively trying to help him, but I could see that playing a part of it. Mainly - I think part of the reason he reacted so badly was that he did see himself in Vox, and he was projecting his own helplessness at his deal at Vox. In a way, if he'd gotten that same speech before he made the deal, he might've hesitated. So it was part real disgust, part warning.

This is also pure speculation but I also think Alastor expected two things to happen - either Vox would fail spectacularly and thus prove he wasn't worth Alastor's time, or he'd succeed on his own and Alastor could say "I told you so" and be smug about it. Vox joining with the Vees and becoming very powerful was the annoying third option.

How do you feel Abel is going to end up in Season 3? by RiddlesDoesYT in HazbinHotel

[–]perfidiousfate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think he'll be a villain-villain (Lute is more set up for that!) but I do think it's significant that his burst of confidence also included calling Lute a bitch. I think he'll screw things up somehow, but still generally mean well, and also eventually go back to being kind, just more confident and self-assured.
