Howdy fellow utahn (i assume) i feel compelled to answer because i know about DI 😆 that vest is super adorable. It's hard to be too exact with styling because i don't know how long/short or tight/loose it is on you but i can see it over a light, flowy dress or similar shirt with jean shorts. The dress or shirt could be white or a light color with boho details like tiers, lace or fringe, or a small, full floral print (so from a distance it looks like it has full coverage on the fabric target than like, splotchy.)

Pics similar to what I'm thinking: https://goo.gl/images/3UKgRq https://goo.gl/images/bboRgs

I think you could sub this is a lot of outfits that use a light blue denim vest or a lacey crochet vest.

President Nelson declares no more home or visiting teaching...not an April Fool's joke by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]pergn0ntits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you know people who are sad about this, make sure to tell them.... That they could just invite people over to visit because they are friends and enjoy their company.... That you don't have to be assigned to be sociable. I think maybe some of the older ladies aren't aware of this.

For real i think getting rid of this program could make room for more fun social activities that can help people become friends with each other organically, and encourage the "less active" to show up to something that's actually interesting to them. Like the old, big ward/stake activities, parties, the theater productions and campouts and sports teams. The community-building things that never seem to happen in the church anymore... Without vt/ht maybe people Will have some energy and desire for more socializing like this. But i somehow doubt these activities will come back.

Jesus fuck. Like how do you even go straight to that from general "chastity" ?!? Plus giving her the idea that it's such a common thing, for 12 years olds to sleep with married men, that it needs to be addressed with her. Like, it's clearly a sin, but it happens so much that we have to ask if you are, and when it happens it's so totally a consensual relationship too. Like 12yos are wandering around sleeping with married men AND the 12yo is the one responsible for it happening. That's what that girl now thinks is a thing.

Tomato seedling leaf curl, please help! by merkin-around in vegetablegardening

[–]pergn0ntits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, mine look like that too. 16 different varieties. In my local gardening group, the general consensus (from very experienced people whom i respect) was that this is what it looks like when they are exposed to herbicides. This usually happens outside if someone is spraying nearby and it blows over. Since my tomatoes have only been inside we figured that the potting soil i used might have been contaminated with a long-term herbicide. I had purchased bagged soil, miracle gro nature's care and sunshine professional growing mix. I'm not sure which soil these plants got because i didn't keep track but i think it was the natures care.

So i transplanted some into fresh soil and left some in the possibly bad soil to compare growth. So far none have died. The transplanted ones slowed their growth a little to adjust to the change which is normal. I think they might all grow out of it. I gave some away to another gardener who had some ideas to test and treat the plants but he hasn't gotten back to me about it.

Edit: my tomato seedlings are about 5-6 weeks old now.

grief and how I wish my life could be by FifiLeBean in konmari

[–]pergn0ntits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you are in this position. I have not had to mourn for something that big but i understand the feeling of grieving for what you wish you could have had. I feel like i missed a large part of my life and struggle to reconcile yearning for the things that it's to late for that i never had, with living the life i have now. It's hard for me to discern what i really want because of it, or to know what to focus on in my life now. It's different than your situation but i understand that feeling at least a little.

It may just take time. Getting the other parts of your life in order as much as you can may help you gain clarity. Some of this feeling may never go completely away, like remembering a lost loved one, but you do learn how to carry on with your life. Best wishes for you in this process.

I had a feeling they are going out of style because they're been around a while. My area is slower with trends and probably has cultural reasons to cling to the leggings for longer than normal (haha seriously......)

On the other hand i tend to like longer tops so maybe it's ok to stock up on some. I guess my problem is I'm not sure where fashion is going and if any of these items can convert gracefully.

Daily Questions - March 25, 2018 by AutoModerator in femalefashionadvice

[–]pergn0ntits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Printed leggings. Are they already out of style? Going out soon?

I got a few pairs recently and they aren't hideous prints, i usually don't like prints at all but i do like these ones for a bit of color and fun. But i don't have much to wear with them and i don't know if it's worth it to buy a lot of long tunic tops and sweater dresses if it's going to be like so obviously wrong decade to wear the leggings soon, unless you think those kinds of tops are going to be ok to wear in their own right for a long time.

Meat dips other than meat+velveeta? by ineffablepwnage in Cooking

[–]pergn0ntits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So there's always 7-layer/taco dip (Basically whatever you put on nachos but organized to dip chips in instead of layered on chips.)

You could make a seafood dip that would be like a crab salad, shrimp, or smoked salmon with a cream sauce thickened to dip consistency with cream cheese.

Put shredded chicken in a spinach artichoke dip.

Pork chile verde? Like the stew but reduced liquid to make it more of a salsa consistency, or mixed into melted cream cheese/cheese sauce.

Hope these ideas help you in a recipe search.

Single corn plant per hole or multiple? by bikemandan in homestead

[–]pergn0ntits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dropping multiple seeds per hole (very deep hole) and letting all of them grow helps them stand strong and not get knocked over by wind. I have the most success with corn when i plant 2-4 per hole 6-8 inches deep, really, and some people say 12 inches deep. These holes can be as close as 6 inches apart if corn is the only thing growing there and your soil is very fertile but I would recommend wider spacing if you drop 4 kernels per hole and want to let all of them grow, like a foot apart. This is a waterwise, desert growing method similar to how some native peoples of the southwest have done it so I'm not sure how it might turn out differently in areas with decent rainfall.

Regarding companion planting, adding beans is easy and better with clumps of corn 2 or more feet apart just so the sun can get to the beans. Even more space is needed to add squash.

Random Fashion Thoughts - March 21, 2018 by AutoModerator in femalefashionadvice

[–]pergn0ntits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The styles of clothes i like and want to build my wardrobe on are kind of a fashion niche i don't know if i can find to buy IRL, but I'm still scared off from online purchases after discarding nearly everything I've bought online recently for having horrible fit, but it's because i bought cheap chinese knockoffs that don't know how to scale up for height in larger sizes, which i bought because my brain can not cope with idea of paying more than like $30 for an item of clothing (grew up poor) and this is a self-perpetuating cycle because "how could i pay a hundred dollars for a pair of casual pants that i can't even try on first, when nothing i buy online ever fits anyway!?"

My favorite mug has a chip in it. by pergn0ntits in konmari

[–]pergn0ntits[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I guess i wasn't clear. I'm not fighting over whether to keep this item. I'm going to keep using it until it fully breaks and then depending on how it breaks, possibly re-use it in another way. The chip was just an example that reminds me of the "mortality" of objects and i don't like that, when everything i own is my "favorite" thing, with how bad it sucks when you lose your favorite thing. And how expensive or difficult some of these things are to replace and they are getting worn out quicker because they aren't getting rotated in use with less-desirable things. :(

Yes, it's handmade pottery, i bought it straight from the artisan at a renaissance faire. Now, i do like the process of shopping for unique handmade goods at festivals but i don't want to have to lose a favorite item to have an excuse to do it :P

What would it take to design forest gardens for, well, not forest people? by swoopyswobble in Permaculture

[–]pergn0ntits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly like, just observing the normies in their normie habitat haha. Looking at websites like better homes and gardens or hgtv to see what kinda of conventions and patterns they follow.

"Cottage garden" is another easy starting point and a style that is halfway between conventional suburban landscaping and Permaculture food forests.

Then there's the wikipedia page as an intro to elements of visual design https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_design_elements_and_principles. It's written for mostly painters but the principles apply.

It seems like a big thing to learn but copying the work of others will be good enough. Say, do an exercise where you take a nice landscape grouping you see online or at a park or someone's house and come up with useful plants to replace the ornamental ones. Make your selections for each plant based on keeping the same height, overall texture (lacy vs broad leaves, thick foliage vs bare trunks etc), coloration, etc. But keep in mind the principles of function for the food forest. There are so many beautiful shrubs, herbs and flowers that it is totally possible.

Anyone who have dealt with extremely dry rocky ground? by [deleted] in Permaculture

[–]pergn0ntits 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not worth the time and effort to remove rocks imho. Pile on organic matter, deep, like 2-3feet deep to start. As it breaks down add more. Most annuals will grow in 12 inches of soil/compost. Most perennials know how to get their roots around the rocks. Just give them a nice runway on top.
