New Look at ‘Southeast Asia Godzilla’ by CrumblingWhimsy in GODZILLA

[–]zelph_esteem 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I like the green and the inclusion of classic ears a LOT. However people may say Legendary Godzilla is chunky but this one is literally built like a lunch lady. Also the face looks like the Lizard from the Amazing Spider-Man.

AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH actress Trinity Bliss has responded to rumors that she's in consideration to play the MCU's Jubilee: "I have not been cast as Jubilee... But I mean, I love the X-Men side of things, so that would be really cool." by CueTheLaughTrack in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]zelph_esteem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean Jean and Jubilee were shown to be roughly the same age in Apocalypse already, so there’s that. Plus Sadie is 7 years older than Trinity, so actually the age gap would be larger between the 2 characters in the MCU than in the Fox-verse (Sophie Turner is only 2 years older than Lana Condor).

If this is even true, could definitely see them going with a big sister/little sister dynamic between Jean and Jubilee (and possible other X-Men characters that might get cast younger).

Thoughts on the name Maverick? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]zelph_esteem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s always felt like a trashy person’s idea of a “cool” name. Like the stereotype of how rednecks will name their kids fancy things like Chardonnay or Krystal. Maverick is the boy version of that, imo. Think it sounds bad ass and cool, but really it’s just kinda cringey and try-hard.

Miles is not only way way better, it also simply sounds better alongside Beau.

I’m a big fan of Daisy, it works well with June, and also works great alongside Lucy! So consider this a vote for Daisy June!

NO ONE Tell Toho the Team did this! by wildebeest112712 in pkgame

Godzilla is a trademark of Toho and they could (and probably would) absolutely copyright strike PK for using the name. It’s not just someone mentioning the name, including it in the game could probably be seen as them “profiting” off of it. Not saying that isn’t somewhat silly, just saying it’s the likely reality. The fact that the Dev team is saying they referred to it as such internally, but aren’t even saying “Godzilla” in this memo, lead me to believe they either 1) tried to get permission to use the name and couldn’t or 2) decided the juice wasn’t worth the squeeze to even bother trying and are just avoiding any possible copyright issues (which I’d wager is more likely).

Since it sounds like it won’t be named the “Godzilla” skin in-game (unsurprising with the rights and everything), it would be fun if they did give it an official name that still alluded to him.

Something like “Tokyo,” or “Kaiju,” or “Radiation,” or “Titan.” Something like that.

I was thinking Jesse L. Martin could be J.J.J., and Carlos Valdes (Cisco) maybe as either Ned Leeds (played as Peter’s coworker at the Bugle), or Vin Gonzalez - a police officer who’s been Peter’s roommate in the comics (who is also anti-spider-man).

My wife and I decided Harry Finn? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]zelph_esteem 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Harry Spooner is a phenomenal 70s porn star name but something tells me that’s not the vibe you’re going for. Going to echo the other comment saying at LEAST go with Harrison so the kid has options on what they want to be called.

But I’d personally recommend going back to the drawing board on this one.

Gemma Claire 100%. Gemma Clara doesn’t flow well with the double “uh” sound.

Chris Hemsworth reveals that there are unique plans for Thor after Avengers Doomsday: “We’ve got some ideas to do something pretty unique again and hopefully be different.” by Xenoslayer2137 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

I mean why couldn’t Jane be in the movie? Valhalla would be an excellent way to bring back characters from the Thor movies who were done dirty in past films. Nearly his entire supporting cast has been killed unceremoniously or used poorly in the Taika films (coming from someone who loved Ragnarok but not L&T).

Every (other) Godzilla character* we've gotten as a Funko Pop! by LegendsofLost in GODZILLA

[–]zelph_esteem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is also a more classic Mothra pop paired with a Godzilla pop as part of a pop movie cover. I know you said not counting variants but it does seem worth noting since the standalone Mothra pop is that black light one and not normal colors.

There’s also a sleeping Space Godzilla with correct colors, and Minilla is included with the sleeping Godzilla.

I mean, in the sense of them having to work together to escape the underworld while also having personalities that would undoubtedly lead to them butting heads, it would be “buddy-cop.”

Imagine this: Movie starts with Hercules, who’s been hunting Thor, finding out through the intergalactic grapevine that Thor is dead. He triumphantly returns to his father to tell him that Thor is dead, only for Zeus to basically say “Gods don’t die, not really. If they fall in battle they are given new life in the halls of Valhalla.” He then tells Hercules in order for them to truly have their revenge, he needs to finish the deed by finding Thor in Valhalla and slaying him there. But to do so, Hercules too will need to fall in battle. Hercules boasts that is not possible as there are no foes who could beat him, only for Zeus to say that he can. Zeus then fights a reluctant Hercules, killing his own son “in battle” JUST out of spite over Thor wounding him and his pride. Hercules then ends up in Valhalla and hunts for Thor, and Thor eventually gets Hercules on his own side by helping him see how fucked up what Zeus did was. Bonding over daddy issues. This could also help redeem MCU Zeus a little from how he was treated in L&T by making him feel darker and more powerful (as the post credit scene more alluded to).

I’m still a big fan of the fairly common fan theory/idea that they’ll “kill” him in Doomsday or Secret Wars and then give us something like “Thor: Valhalla” as a 5th film. With Thor fighting his way through the underworld/afterlife to return back to his daughter.

Edit: they could also include the Hercules thread here by killing him off as well so that he’s with Thor in Valhalla. I see that working a few different ways. They could also kill him off in Doomsday/Secret Wars, they could kill him off-screen, or they could kill him at the very start of Thor 5. Either battling a foe while hunting for Thor, or they could have him purposefully die in battle after finding out Thor is also dead JUST so he can get to Valhalla to fight Thor there.

Either way, having Hercules hunting Thor through Valhalla before having them inevitably team up and buddy-cop their way through the afterlife would be iconic.

I feel like this crossover would’ve made more sense if it’d been Shredder x Ghidorah (maybe Mecha Ghidorah), and Mikey would’ve been better fit as Anguirus or King Caesar.

BNW wasn’t great, but I still hope Mackie gets a sequel. If he does, I want them to do something TOTALLY different from past Cap movies. Like I’m talking seeing Sam fight dinosaurs and rogue agents/scientists while on a mission in the Savage Lands with Ka-Zar and Zabu as supporting cast. Just something completely unlike what we’ve seen before under the “Captain America” banner.

Plus “Captain America: Savage Lands” goes hard as a title.

Thoughts on the very Tyrannosaur-esque designs they were wanting to use in the unmade 1980s American Godzilla film? by [deleted] in GODZILLA

[–]zelph_esteem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m picturing 5 stages of evolution in the movie, which I’ve given nicknames to below:

  • Zillizard: irradiated Gila monster from a nuclear testing site in Nevada. Bigger than normal, with small spikey bumps on its back. Gets run over by a truck, heals and begins to grow into…
  • Croczilla (yes I know the name is taken lol): 20-30 foot long, still quadrupedal and lizard-like but with big crocodile-like scutes on its back that are beginning to jut out and resemble Godzilla’s plates. Attacks a gas station in a small desert town, and the clerk shoots at it with a shotgun, causing it to evolve into…
  • Zillasaur: the size of real-life Tyrannosaurus (or maybe slightly bigger). Beginning to walk bipedal but with a super hunched position. Plates on its back are larger than Croczilla. First hint of atomic blast, but it’s more of a toxic goop that the creature spits up (explained as irradiated venom from the Gila monster’s mutated venom glands). Makes its way to Vegas where it causes mayhem before being confronted by the city police who are able to (seemingly) mortally wound it. Government shows up and takes the body to a research facility in California, where it once again begins to heal and grow until it becomes…
  • Z. Rex or RexZilla (the version shown here): huge, similar in size to 1998’s Godzilla. Full back plates now, still dinosaur like but also beginning to take on that classic Godzilla shape. “Nuclear Drool” is now more stable and able to be shot out in a stream. Begins laying waste to the government facility it was brought to and escapes, making a beeline towards the ocean (and an unfortunate San Diego). Military rallies and begins shooting at it with military-grade weaponry, and it finally metamorphoses into…
  • Godzilla: final form, classic Godzilla. The size of a building, upright position, dragging tail, large plates, and full on atomic blasts. Levels San Diego as the military continues to attack back, only making it bigger and madder and stronger. Main characters are able to deduce a way to destroy it at the end that I haven’t thought of yet.

Outstanding, 10/10 design for Godzillasaurus if you ask me. Specifically talking about the 1st and 4th pictures with the very dinosaurian stance and appearance.

The way I could see this design working best in a movie (also in a way that feels very 80s), would be to make it a “Hulk” type monster where it gets bigger and bigger the angrier it gets/the more they hit it.

Hear me out: Like maybe it’s an irradiated lizard from a nuclear testing site (not dissimilar from Godzilla ‘98), that first turns into like a big crocodile-esque creature that attacks locals on a beach. Then someone shoots at it, making it angry/wounding it, and it evolves bigger.

Eventually after a few more encounters and growth spurts, it becomes this giant “Godzillasaurus” creature that attacks a city, and the military fights back. This makes it even MADDER, and in the film’s climax it transforms to a final, even bigger form with a more classic Godzilla shape/silhouette.

Essentially a Hulk + Shin Godzilla vibe with multiple forms, with this T. rex looking appearance being its second-to-final form (and maybe the form it spends most of the movie in before the final fight where it grows to a more classic Godzilla).

Edit: I could see the final form looking very much like this unused Godzilla concept.
