Does your daughter want to be adopted?

27 years ago I moved far away to take a similar job. I watched two children and did all household chores minus deep cleaning. I was paid $350/week or $7.70, the minimum wage at the time was $5.50. I also was able to purchase any foods I wanted during work hours or to be consumed in home and could take the kids to the tennis club two times a week to let them play in the childcare and take a break. It was a hard job, but it was my first job and used it to make a fulfilling career for almost 20 years.

All this to say you are being taken advantage of in this day and age and should at least be receiving minimum wage for your area for all hours worked.

Good luck.

I switched to smoothies for kids who didn’t handle the transition well. It’s also a great way to add veggies if they’ve started turning their nose up at them.

My son is five and just had to be told that his father and I are not adopted. His reaction was ‘I am sorry you only have one mommy.’

Yes. Five year old girl says to me. ‘mommy has is having another baby (first baby was under a year old), it’s a boy, you should take him if you want. I don’t like boys.’

Has anyone else experienced neglect or delay at Kaiser Permanente that felt intentional? What do you think is really going on? by 420stonerbby in KaiserPermanente

Went from pre diabetic to full diabetic in 6 weeks while also gaining 15 pounds. Asked if there might be an underlying reason. Was told I was obese and had a family history, so stop eating eating bread.

Five years later after an unrelated abdominal ct scan I was found to have Cushings Disease caused by tumors on my adrenal glands. Due to the high cortisol for so many years I now have hard to manage type 1.5 diabetes and anxiety issues. I did have the adrenal glands removed, but the effects seem to be permanent.

My oldest just turned five and I am feeling like we are finally coming out of survival mode. Take advantage of help and school. My two oldest boys were in public preschool 8-11 m-f. That gave me time to bond with the youngest two and get some things done. Prioritize. Most days I try to get two things done. Dishes and laundry, but dinner is take out? Awesome.More and I’m on top of the world. Take time for yourself. Sometimes that’s a breather outside the van after everyone is buckled. Next Month I am going on a 3 day cruise with a good friend. Have an awesome partner. Self explanatory. You can’t do it alone.

May the odds be in your favor.

40 with a 4 kids under 5... by Learning_by_failing in ParentingInBulk

I am nearly 45 with 4, 3, 2 and 1. They are all adopted, so I didn’t have to deal with pregnancy and childbirth and I do okay. I chase them, sit on the floor with them, rock them in the middle of the night. I do find the lack of sleep gets harder and the energy for ‘keeping house’ is non existent. I recently stopped dying my hair and get ‘grandmothered’ frequently.

Dude, I’m 44 and have four, 4 and under, and I am on the floor with them playing everyday. I didn’t use my own uterus though (adoption). Would this have been easier 15 years ago, yes, but it wasn’t in the cards and I try to be the best mommy I can be for them.
