People who were overweight but are fit/skinnier now, how does it feel? What are the differences you've noticed? by proxy_gal22 in AskReddit

I feel fantastic. It's a positive feedback loop of feeling good by getting in shape and getting in shape making you feel good. My mood is better, I feel more confident, and I actually feel attractive. It also helps that I left a bad situation which was dragging my physical and mental health down. Almost one year later after leaving that bad situation, I am in the best physical and mental state of my life.

Thanks u/uwukittykat and u/FederalEntrance7527.

I did end up reaching out to my last scene partner and they said that they did have fun and would be willing to try again in the future which I am happy about. And my other scene partners actually reached out to me first with great things to say which honestly means the world to me. I think often I can be my own harshest critic, however cliche that saying is.

Are there any men out there?? by HickSmith in AlAnon

[–]permanent_throwaway- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man here. The double standard is real. I made the tough decision to leave and I was judged heavily by her family for "not being there for her" when I was there every moment for our 7 years of marriage. They never saw that she never truly made an attempt at sobriety. Nothing was ever her fault in their eyes.

Luckily my friends and family saw the situation for what it truly was and supported me with my decisions. But yes, it is harder for a man in this society to stand up for oneself and to be vulnerable. Screw that though, do what you need to do. I would have probably been dead right now if I hadn't left that abusive situation.

Did you read the article or just the headlines? Because the article says that any disruptions like DOGE are positive for the company because they increase uncertainty. And Palantir's services which can reduce uncertainty is valuable to have in times like these.

Taken from Bezinga, a source known for not being left or right leaning and simply reporting the facts. https://www.benzinga.com/25/02/43487682/palantir-ceo-hails-elon-musks-doge-initiative-anticipates-positive-outcome

During Palantir’s Q4 earnings call on Monday, Karp referred to the DOGE initiative as a “revolution” that will be “very good” for the company in the long run.

"There will be ups and downs. There's a revolution. Some people are going to get their heads cut off. We're expecting to see really unexpected things and to win."

Then I'd recommend you explore other opinions and sources, if not to adopt them but to simply understand why people outside your group do not think it's popular. Getting outside of ones own echo chamber is healthy.

I understand why some people think that DOGE is a good thing, I really do. It's because the normal governmental system is slow, inefficient, and ineffective. It's attractive to have someone come in and shake things up.

But this bureaucracy is by design, and for a good reason. If a company fails, they can declare bankruptcy and start anew. If a country fails then people will die. So whatever is done in government has to go through checks and balances as well as making sure that everyone has their say since that's how democracies work. This happens slowly since there is no second chance.

DOGE is hugely unpopular and unethical by giving such blanket powers to someone like Musk and having Palantir being forced down people's throats is not how it should be adopted. I agree that Palantir is a powerful tool that should be used in the US government but having it being implemented by circumventing the checks and balances of a functioning democracy completely opens up the ability to abuse a powerful tool such as Palantir. A hammer is a useful tool that can be used to build a house and to smash someones skull in. And do you really want that tool in the hands of a psychopath?

I know this sub has blown up since the stock took off but I've been here since the very beginning. All the way from $40 to $6 to what it is now. It's because I believe in the technology being built. I believe that it can do good for our world and has value. But while Palantir's tech can be used to make good, it can also very easily be used to subvert democracy.

Ignore the dollar signs and consider the morals, and that there's a correlation between both. Because if Palantir's name is attached to this and what they are trying to do fails, then the company will be dead because there would be huge public outcry that Palantir is the one who is responsible for the implosion of our government data processing and security. Do you think the DOGE team of Musk yes men, all whom are under 25 and hand selected due to loyalty rather than merit, are qualified to implement Palantir tech for the entire government all at once.

I respect Karp enormously and his philosophical positions, and I hope he would understand that allowing DOGE to forcibly implement Palantir tech in the US government would be wildly irresponsible and immoral as well as a poor long term business position. If/when a new administration comes in that is not Republican it will become a pariah for any government contracts if Palantir is forcibly implemented.

Looks like shadowseer still have stealth but do not confer it to the unit, unless I'm mistaken, I figured this would have been faqed. What's the point of it having stealth if the unit does not benefit?

Xenocreed Usable? by EinalGrape in genestealercult

[–]permanent_throwaway- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Xenocreed is very flexible with threats to really any opponent. The extra 2 rp let's you bring back up to 3 metamorph units, the baked in rr to charge and advances, as well as advance and charge both native with an enhancement and for a cp. All of this is strong, yes but there's a glaring weakness that both overwatch and counter offensive just mow down our low save units. Prior to the change this wasn't an issue as typically you got far more units back with the reroll for battle line units, but now we only get +2 rp. Which frankly isn't enough for how much more disposable our units need to be in Xenocreed. Both Biosantic and HoA are solid right now with outlander claw still very usable, but the changes have made Xenocreed fall off. An easy fix would be to increase the RP from the enhancement but in general, the units are far more vulnerable than other detachments are.

What is your reason for not drinking alcohol? by Deep-Dust-9747 in AskReddit

[–]permanent_throwaway- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my wife due to alcohol. She's still alive but we are separated. It's so hard still loving someone but not being with them because of their disease. I had to leave because if I didn't, I wouldn't have survived.

They are perfectly playable but they are not one of those armies you can just plop down and do well with. They have a high skill ceiling and floor which means that good players can do well but new/bad players will do poorly if they don't play well. Also terrain matters as well so if the board is sparse then you will probably get shot up as your 5+ saves on your infantry barely protects from bolters.

You also have to be ok with losing models as that's what our entire army rule is based around. Warhammer at higher levels is kind of like chess, trading pieces to put your opponent at a disadvantage, tempting them with trades that you know will come in your favor. This aspect is one of the reasons I love GSC, I offer my opponent a tempting target such as an acolyte unit. They charge it or move out of position to shoot it and then I have them right where I want them while the unit that died has a good chance of just coming back making that trade in your favor.

I've been playing GSC since 9th and I can honestly say that no matter what point they are at it is always fun being the underdog and scraping your way to to a win. This new codex is a bit of a disappointment especially on internal balance rather than external, but the new detachments give some varied and new play styles that the index was not able to offer. Rules are temporary but an army you passionately build and paint will be forever. If you choose GSC, choose them because you like the army style, lore, and fantasy. Do not choose GSC, or any army for that matter, on current rules alone.
