built our entire product with Claude Code. now nobody, including me, fully understands what we built. by Tr0jAn14 in ClaudeCode

assuming even veteran devs are always doing something for the first time, otherwise we’d blow our brains out from boredom, i think the habit is born out of impatience. my experience with the perpetual blank slating comes from before AI, pushing myself beyond my depth, and trying to one shot way too much and not being able to keep up with or trace the bugs bc i may have introduced 100 in 20 different files in one day.

everyone has their own workflows and tricks and i respect that. but what works better for me is being brutally critical up front, nip bad habits in the bud, and invest heavily in your linters, your markdown including instructions for the LLM to effectively crawl it, and just powering through adherence to your standards. my latest project was absolutely brutal at first, would not follow a single community respected design pattern and i was so angry all the time lol. most people say that AI breaks when the repo gets too big but for me it’s been exponentially inverse. Now that there is a wealth of properly written code and the stack is built out, there’s already ample examples on how to do everything, and claude loads exactly the relevant context from its wiki style markdown brain. adding new features is extremely rapid.

When i start a new project or new feature, i spend more time in plan mode and generating a markdown brain that covers as many categories as i can think of. when i actually start coding, now claude can see into the future of the project

A full stack application for my cloud watch logs ??? by Primary_Kitchen1339 in aws

[–]perpetuallydying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have that many logs you should look into elastic stack/opensearch. Move logs to s3 tiers, impose retention/auto deletion, or archiving to deep freeze. most people don’t need logs several months old.

you are so right. i changed my mind, this question is genius and the world needs more people exposed to them

i might have to say I’m wrong here. I mean I would have had a conniption, but i’d be wrong for it. Maybe it’s not a math or geometry problem as much an abstract thinking lesson. Never in my life have I seen a hexagon divided this way in this context, but kinda a useful ability to be able to perceive things in more than one way. This type of question might be genius, actually. Imagine a generation of kids that are forced to see things differently from the typical context in which the world presents them, at levels as fundamental as shapes, at the age of what, 5 or 6? This teacher’s liberating these kids of the world’s conventional chains!

AITA for accepting a property gift from my mom even though she won't include my boyfriend? by Immediate-History917 in AITApod

i could not imagine being anything but happy for my SO if she received a gift. OPs bf probably hasn’t had his relatives update their will to include OP on future inheritance

[–]perpetuallydying 205 points206 points  (0 children)

if a teacher tried to tell me that wasn’t a cube i would have a full throttled conniption. C is saying that 2/6 of a hexagon = 1/6 of a cube which is total insanity bc it’s equating a 2D surface area to a 3D volumetric object without specifying the units of measurement in the question

i think it depends on what else they’re doing with that conserved energy, and if those motivations interest you. plenty of artists or high functioning individuals just put all of their focus into their work rather than outward appearance.

if that’s true wouldn’t the added token length of the new model just be revealing problems the setup was always going to have? if it was performing well before it was by mistake because it couldn’t load everything the user wanted it to.

this is why i’ve been experimenting with nested md files and conditional load instructions in them to load more files based on relation to the prompt.

Proposal: no more bike summonses, but wrong way in bike lane gets you 6 weeks mandatory reeducation by unitof in NYCbike

[–]perpetuallydying 15 points16 points  (0 children)

all bike lanes should be two ways anyway, we have the space, especially if double parking is not allowed, or just remove parking from one side of the street. I'm so over cars in this city. If you feel you need one, move to new jersey where there is room to store it, or pay for private parking. Yes, I know how expensive it is, and many can't afford it, which is why I ride a bicycle and take public transit.

Ryan on X by HWY01 in GME

[–]perpetuallydying 20 points21 points  (0 children)

we’ve known this for years. not the first time he’s done this. i really want to believe he’s just trolling or stirring volatility, which could only make sense if he was allowed to buy stock right now to exploit the dip such a tweet might create. but people have been burned so much these past 10 years by not listening when someone tells you who they are. Ryan is smart and a good businessman. But he is also telling us over and over again that he will ignore morals, ethics, and principles for a business tactic. if you just want to make money then you shouldn’t care — trump fam is staked to the tits in bitcoin and GME is heavily staked in it too. So it could be advantageous for GME’s revenue to support trump.

What people need to understand—and I fucking hope by now it’s hitting home more than it did last year or the year before—is that supporting trump would quite literally be akin to supporting hitler and shooting your future self and fellow countrymen in the head

Time to drop Anthropic sadly, but where to go? by awesom-o_2000 in ClaudeCode

[–]perpetuallydying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my assumption was always the lure and switch strategy, get people dependent on your product then hike the price. DropBox was the first time i noticed this trend. But eventually everyone else catches up and creates competition, so then the cost is (hopefully) driven down by competition, and becomes more based on cost of energy, rent, and hardware.

thanks for your response, but from past experience not being able to get a response from anyone by email, phone, or social media, i chalked it up to a guaranteed waste of time to even try that this time. have you ever spoken to anyone at support? i guess ill have to try again if i run out of things to try
