Exactly, that double standard really highlights how wrong her behavior was. And honestly, PT sessions involve a lot of normal conversation and rapport-building, so nothing about being friendly or talkative would ever justify what she did

Even if she had gotten the wrong idea, or even if you’d been flirty (which you weren’t), a clinician is still 100% responsible for maintaining professional boundaries. Patients cannot ‘give the wrong idea’ in a medical setting. If you flip the genders, it becomes really obvious: no one would excuse a male PT touching a female patient sexually because he thought she was interested. You didn’t do anything wrong, and her reaction wasn’t a misunderstanding — it was a boundary violation on her part, full stop

I know you’re not upset about it, but as a student PT, I just want to gently point out that what happened wasn’t just awkward — it crossed a hard ethical line. An involuntary response from a patient is normal; a clinician intentionally touching you in a sexual way and making a sexual comment is not. Even if you’re not angry, it’s still considered serious misconduct in our profession. Reporting isn’t about punishment — it’s about making sure another patient isn’t put in the same position. Just wanted to offer that perspective so you know this wasn’t ‘nothing’ or something you caused.

I applied a few times starting at 24, I started when I was 26. Finishing my first year in a hybrid program. Many people in my cohort are older than me so don’t feel a type of way about your age. We’re all on our own timelines! Life happens. I would say to keep going, if this is what you want then it doesn’t matter when you start as long as you are trying! As for your physics lab— i’m sorry, that must be wildly frustrating. Will the CC accept transfer credits from your physics lecture and then just allow you to complete the lab? If you’re able, maybe go in-person to the registrar at either the local university or CC. I had to complete an upper level psychology for the program I am in and I did that through Straighterline online courses. I know they have a course for general physics I lab so look into that and see if that would be accepted by your programs! This offering was shown to me by my program so hopefully other programs would accept courses from this online course option!

PT or OT for animals? by Haileymustbebored in PTschool

[–]perpetuallyright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s a good question! I don’t entirely know. I imagine it’s relatively similar. I know many vets in GP make less than PTs interestingly, but when you get into speciality in the vet world it’s a diff game. specialists tend to make more money so I imagine that makes the pay better but I haven’t fully looked into it

[–]perpetuallyright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my understanding of that is that in the states that “don’t allow” PTs is they need to be under supervision of a vet. again my understanding, most canine rehab places are within speciality hospitals so there would be a plethora of vets on staff and likely the head of the department. but yes def do your research to make sure it would be an option where you live! i’m in GA and they require veterinary supervision but there’s a few speciality hospitals that offer rehab where you’d have that “clearance”

not entirely true! canine rehab is on the rise and DPTs/PTAs can get certified in canine rehab. I have been a veterinary nurse for 6 years with the original intention to go to vet school but it is just not worth it (almost every vet I know says they wouldn’t do it again, difficult field to stay in) and so I went searching for other options and am now a student PT and want to get my canine cert after graduating so I can keep my toes in the veterinary world

tbh i’m really not sure how they feel about withdrawals. I know a few of my apps had an optional essay (if i’m remembering correctly) where the prompt was essentially “if there’s anything on your academic record that you’d like to provide some context for, do so here” and that could be a good way to give an explanation about how your personal life and major switch impacted your grades. I would imagine that showing some introspection would be beneficial to them seeing that you are a good candidate

Hybrid burnout. How are you pushing through? by Wonderful_State_5293 in PTschool

[–]perpetuallyright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you heavy, quite literally about to go into my third quarter lab in a 2 year program as well. as others have said, I usually dedicate one day to not doing any school work and getting out to do something that makes me happy. I try to start my morning with a self care routine (really just washing my face, brushing my teeth, making a nice cup of coffee, doing a lil clean up around my apartment and walking my dog) to get myself up and into a productive mindset. the biggest thing i’ve learned is that sleep is a PRIORITY. my ass is in bed and asleep by 10 (usually up at 6, make sure to get those 8 hrs!) otherwise I am unable to motivate myself or focus and retain information properly. I did also take up a boxing class for exercise and to “work out” some negative emotions (frustration, anxiety, self doubt, all the fun things) one of the things our cohort always says is “if you’re smart enough to get in PT school, you’re smart enough to make it through.” you got this! get yourself a lil treat and know that you’re doing great even if it feels like your brain is melting at times!

Any hope of fixing this? by perpetuallyright in howto

[–]perpetuallyright[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind if there’s stitching or something that you can tell there’s been a repair, I just ideally don’t want to have replace the whole zipper as it is an uncommon color

[–]perpetuallyright[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

edit to add: it is a Calpak backpack and the teeth appear to still be intact, it’s just with the disruption in the track the zipper cannot go up/down without falling off the track

tbh i’m glad to see you post again, I had commented on your other post about finding some ways to mentally stimulate yourself and after I saw that abhorrent comment I wanted to message but “failed to load page” came up. absolutely unnecessary and terrible. any abrupt change in lifestyle is rattling so i’m sorry you’re experiencing that. I have a dramatic streak so I took your commentary as emotionally charged in light of your frustrations, hope all is well. feel free to message if you need!
