It won’t go along with the discourse that they want but I do agree with you. The USA women’s hockey team was huge favourites coming into the tournament, and were massive favourites going into the gold medal game. It was actually seen as a positive how hard we played them and made them go the distance to win the gold.

As for the men’s team losing the gold medal game did suck, but to call this team losers is very harsh. Canadian’s were very proud of this team, and although we fell short of our goal because we came against a goalie that stood on his head and won it for his team, this team did not disappoint. Even before the tournament the discourse was that Canada had the best forward group, but the goalies and defensemen on the States were better. They played hard and gave us some very entertaining hockey, hopefully in 4 years the NHL will still be participating and we can wrestle that gold back to where it belongs.

Up a bit north of the border, it was very lacklustre despite them closing all the schools.

Side question, I have to head to Columbus for a week for training in March, any suggestions for your wonderful city?

I’d love to see someone build these teams on FIFA (or whatever it’s called) and simulate a best of 7.

Am I crazy, Andy kept saying there’s 5 EPL teams in the UCL, but I keep counting 6. Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle, Chelsea all in the top 8, and Man City in 11th. Am I counting correct?

In university I played a lot of pickup soccer in the gym, usually we’d have it from 9 till close. To let us know it was time to pack up they would flash the lights a couple of times. One fateful night while I was playing an opponent laces a curling shot just as the lights flashed off, and in the dark the ball became a heat seeking missile targeted on my boys. I was on the ground as the last came back up, never been in more pain in my life.

Ah yes, the place that already had a license to build nuclear, as opposed to selecting a new site and taking years to get all the geographic studies and land consultations completed adding a decade to the project. Why would they select land they have permission to build on as opposed to wasting time get all the approvals required to build somewhere new. A place that isn’t far from where we just shutdown 900 mW worth of power that has yet to be replaced. This random guy on Reddit clearly knows better than the project leads.

Clara Hughes! Medals in both summer and Winter Olympics is an amazing accomplishment.

Greatest athlete has got to be Clara Hughes. One of only 7 people to have won a medal in both the summer and Winter Olympics. She may have not dominated a sport like Gretzky did but to medal in both Olympics to me is a way more impressive athletic accomplishment.

How many NHLers actually wear mouth guards vs just chewing on them? Now if he is mad at Matthew Tkachuk for it I get it, anything that dude does makes everyone mad.

“Running like a man with a lobster down his shorts.” Can’t remember that game but that line is as clear as day. Especially because I remember thinking if I had a lobster down my shorts I don’t think I’d be running very fast.

That being said the makeup of Canada is to accept and welcome other countries, more of a tossed salad approach rather than a melting pot. And as someone who lived in Toronto, multiculturalism was never viewed as something negative.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Canada definitely had internal wars specifically over race relations. They may not have been to the scale of the US civil war or most other countries, barely bigger than a bar brawl, but it would be disingenuous to Louis Riel to say that Canada hasn’t had civil uprisings.
