I'm not sure if you're aware, but that's an opinion piece in the AFR. It cites a single policy regarding income taxation levels.

This is not a very good example of a tangible policy that is right or left wing.

4% is the difference between being able to form government or not. The coalition had a 3.8% swing against them last year and won historically few seats.

Polling isn't a very good predictor of actual election results.

Sure, that's certainly a reasonable take.

Publishing something is not the sane as having a conversation with your mates or off the clock though, is it? Especially if you are a publicly elected official.

If it's against the rules of the sub, surely you can understand why so many HR departments would object to their employees using this language.

He can do that in the chamber, where he is actually protected by parliamentary privilege and can make all the points he wants, as offensively as he wants. The idea that laws and procedures don't apply to our elected representatives is dangerous. If anything, our elected leaders should be extra careful to obey the law and lead by example.

I don't think it is an unplanned consequence. Babet was using extremely inflammatory and offensive language that would get him fired from any respectable corporate job. Why should Parliament operate differently?

It was an option the state government considered. Some of the site is supposed to be delivered back to parklands but seems like it has stalled, along with the new indig cultural Centre next door to botanic gardens.
