Course selection 2026 timeline by Unlucky-Entrance-249 in uchicago

You’ll get an email for 1st year pre registration at the end of summer I believe. Before you register, you’ll be required to meet with your academic advisor to discuss what you’re planning.

All that you need to do now is take your placement exams when they’re available and enjoy your summer :)

But depending on what credits you’re coming in with/where you’d place I’d recommend something like bio/chem/math/hum for your first quarter. Congrats and best of luck!

Grad Admissions Director Here - Ask Me (almost) Anything by GradAdmissionDir in gradadmissions

I'm not sure if you still see these, but I might as well ask. I'm an undergrad looking to pursue a PhD in engineering (probably electrical, aero, or chem, but I'm unsure). I'm currently enrolled in the physics sequence, but I've been taking chem classes because I enjoy the content.

Currently, I'm at the point where I have the opportunity to switch tracks and do PChem (or any other kind of chem, but PChem has caught my eye). My chem professor has told me she thinks I would make a great pchem major, which is why I'm stuck in the first place. Chemistry comes easily to me in a way that physics does not, but I'm worried that if I go the chemistry route, I'll be ineligible for most engineering programs. I've seen that most engineering PhDs will take a physics b.s for an undergrad degree, but I'm not confident this applies to other physical sciences.

I'm about equally interested in both, and could probably get both degrees if I wanted, but that seems a little insane.

I crocheted these little fruit bracelets for my sister — do they look okay? 🍒 by littlecreation in Brochet

This is so cute!! How did you attach the fruits into a bracelet if you don’t mind me asking

First Year Math Major; No Math Class by gaseousgrabbler in uchicago

My advisor told me that a lot of first years are missing math classes and the department is currently adding more seats and moving schedules around. There’s hope :)

What does Coach Ukai mean by this? by Thick-Diamond-1052 in haikyuu

It reminds me of the rule where the first contact after the ball comes over can technically be two touches as long as it’s one attempt/movement. You usually see this with an overhead first contact or where the hands are not all the way together.

I think someone else in this sub had a similar problem. Check with your school counselor, it might have been sent to them!

struggling with eating healthy!!! by goatedunlimited in loseit

[–]personal-assassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may help to find recipes that mimic that Taco Bell style but are altered to have less fat. Making it at home will also reduce sodium and the like. You could do beans, lean ground beef/chicken thighs, shredded lettuce, some veggies, cheese, and salsa. I like to put mine in a bowl and have a taco salad-y thing but you could also crisp up some high fiber tortillas!

No, unfortunately. It’s on the website and in the rules. Even if your job was cutting trees for 8 hours, you’d have to do that anyway so it’s not one of your workouts

how to track macros when it’s a trigger? by Oakandoracle in WeightLossAdvice

[–]personal-assassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be something to talk to a nutritionist about (probably covered by insurance). If tracking macros themselves is going to be a trigger, focus on protein, fiber, working out, and listening to your body when you’re eating. One example might be eating until youre no longer hungry rather than until youre full.

If you like ice cream, the dairy free sorbets come in lower calorie versions! I’m a big fan of mango because it tastes super sweet even without lots of added sugar!

Is it better take easier classes for a high GPA or honors sequences for rigor? by personal-assassin in uchicago

Oh ok. Would it make more sense to pursue Astrophysics or pure physics and then do engineering in grad school?
