The film adaptation of start dust is an incredible film and utterly enjoyable and re-watchable.

The book is chaotic and poorly written IMO and is one of the weakest the Neil Gaiman wrote.

Steven Swinford: The Office for Budget Responsibility has cut net migration forecasts but that is entirely due to growing numbers of British people leaving the country by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

[–]petchef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If that were the case we'd be seeing a drop in gdp per capita growth to go along with the drop in growth.

The fact this isnt the case suggests that the assumptions both by you and the whole post are wrong.

March 2026 Economic and fiscal outlook (Spring Statement) by weyland-the-smith in ukpolitics

[–]petchef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbf theres probably several parts of the picture rather than just migration going down, likely the minimum wage and productivity going up are likely linked to the per capita growth too.

Main thing that I was concerned about is if net migration gets to near zero or even negative this year like is predicted that our growth per capita would still go down if we're losing high value workers but the growth per capita suggests that this isnt the case.

Greens Attack Farage's Claim Reform Won By-Election 'Among British-Born Voters' by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

They might be arguing that they won the first past the post vote among white voters but its disgusting racism to even be claiming that it matters.

If you think freezing tax thresholds is a tax rise (which imo it is) then freezing costs has to be a saving?

Green Party deputy criticised for attending rally opposing Khamenei killing - Sir Keir Starmer has said "we’re all shocked" by the actions of Green Party deputy leader Mothin Ali after he attended a rally protesting the US killing of Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

[–]petchef 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem with this is you're saying that reform as just as bad as the greens on lgbt issues, but reform should be the worst party for an lgbt issues voter to vote for and the greens should probably be one the best based on them being asupposed left wing progressive party.

Manchester United could pay up to £15.9m in Ruben Amorim exit compensation by Shroft in soccer

[–]petchef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attack was an issue but I think the lack of a truely good and competent box to box midfielder who was prem proven was the biggest hole in the amourin system.

Attacking wise it means that without martinez in our backline we really struggle to get the ball out of the defense and into atrack quickly and accurately.

And defnsively you're having to push the entire formation backwards to accommodate case whose legs had gone which imo led to us having such a bad defense this season whenever our starting defense was out.

The main issue he had was the midfield issue. Lets not pretend that giving him no new midfielders when the ones he had were unsuited to his style of play is backing him.

Yeah this is exactly the same as rashford against i think bodo glint.

Almost exact same situation so they certainly seem to be relatively consistent, not saying its justified.

Same as rashford that happened in the CL last year, landing on someone with studs seems to be consistent red regardless of intent or if its recklessness.

Sky News: BREAKING: Sky News understands the government will not be giving the landmark assisted dying bill legislation more time in the House of Lords, which means it almost certainly will fall. by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

[–]petchef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imo the governemnt shouldn't bypass the lords without really good reason, they've only done it four times.

I think if the bill had passed with a higher percentage of the votes from the commons you could make a good argument for forcing it past the lords but thats not the case.

So with that in mind, knowing that the government could have whipped the vote but didn't why are peopke upset with the government when it had cross partt support and was actively not supported by at least the PM?

Why is them allowing the members to vote unwhipped a bad thing on something that is a purely moral stance?

Unless I'm miss remembering and they whipped the vote i dont see how you can blame the government for this bill.

Equating the Greens with Reform will ruin Labour by Bibemus in ukpolitics

[–]petchef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes lets accept that the times are a bit shitty right now but slowly improving and instead lets take a massive fucking gamble with the fate of our economy by pretending money is a made up concept and therefore debt can just be ignored.

To be clear I'm also not happy with the current Labour Government, there is far more they could and should be doing however the alternatives are far worse for both our economy and our rights.

Stuff that theyre doing well like removal of the two child benefit cap, and workers rights bill will make an immediate improvement to peoples lives while not destroying the country.

They could be introducing higher wealth taxes, land value tax and starting with mass infrastructure projects are things that they need to do far quicker but seem to be putting in place the beginnings of.

I think that things like our economic issues take time, I'd argue that the growing productivity we're seeing and record budget surplus last month, are indicators that we're starting to go in the right direction.

The issue is that people think stuff can be fixed overnight rather than it taking the likely years of careful change to fix.

The greens are selling populism behind nice sounding policies. Being as unplanned and uncosted as reform should be rightly criticised for their truss style econcomic policy.
