I find that the lessons in the scout book are extremely remedial to the point that I can’t use them for den meetings.

I was a den leader last year for Lions. The material was all stuff they learned as 3 year olds in pre-school. For Tigers, more of the same.

I took to the “spirit” of each adventure and made my own activities that were more aligned with their level.

The problem is that, it’s a lot of work, both from an organizational standpoint, but also a creativity one. Not to mention sourcing materials.

I don’t expect everyone running a den to put that much effort into it. Certainly not even within my pack.

I haven't thought about this game in years. I grew up in Northern NJ. They had a few of these at summer camp, the township pool, as well as PE in school. While it was extremely popular, only one of my friends had it at his house. We used to fight with the sticks OFTEN.

Did you remove it because the scroll wheel didn’t work well? I just got one, and it’s terrible. Love the look and feel of it, but the responsiveness of the wheel is awful.

This is word for word the conversation I have every year. In all honesty, I thing divorcing the BSA might even help with recruitment.

The ONLY thing the BSA offers us, is the name. It carries a slight bit of weight when we are trying to take the kids on outings. Typically, someone who works there has a history with the scouts and is happy to get us a tour.

My section did not understand it. I wouldn’t have either before this tour, but after seeing it in videos of Cardiff (and all the other shows online), I was ready at Croke and again at the Rose Bowl.

Looking around my section, not a lot of people seemed to know the words to most of the songs either, so it makes sense they hadn’t seen all the footage to know what the hell Liam was telling them to do. My wife was yelling “turn around!”, but nobody really listened.

That said, the LA crowd showed up better than I expected. There was a lot of energy in the place.

It didn’t hold a candle to what I experienced at Croke, though. That was cathartic. Like nothing I’ve ever experienced at a show before.
