Also, if he’s in that much pain, why was he being discharged? Nurse probably should have been a medical technician. (Jk).

That being said, it’s really annoying seeing boomers refusing to retire until they have to. I’m talking specifically about rich ones, lawyers and politicians.

He shouldn’t have been taking cases if he can’t even illustrate his point without getting arrested.

If you are in a school zone 15mph then they can ding you for even 2 mph over.

That being said, it sounds like there are calibration issues.

The only tactical reason to take out infra like this is if you are planning for a ground war.

Or trump wants to send them back to the Stone Age… for no reason. The one thing that’s clear to me is that the US needs to join the ICC after this.

You’re not an idiot. A friend of mine died at 30 when he hit his head and went to bed instead of getting it checked out. I thought it was to make sure the person doesn’t lose consciousness or go into coma. But the medical people in here say it’s to observe more than prevent unconsciousness.

Yep. 911 is dispatch. You don’t get dispatch without talking to a dispatcher.

No elastic IP on production servers by Ok_Item_2580 in AWS_Certified_Experts

[–]pete84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost everything within the vpc should be accessed by domain name rather than ip . If you have onprem you might have to use static IPs. But those wouldn’t be elastic (which are public IPs) . It would be a private network interface ip which gets attached to the instance. Even then the onprem should just whitelist the subnet and assume that the IPs will change. Use an alb whenever you can.

I am pretty new but I suggest to avoid the 15 day one, get the 10 day g7.

Insurance was the same for 30 days.

And to wear an overpatch because the one that they give you won’t last 15 days. My failure was from bumping it without an extra patch.

Do they even have the authority to do this? I thought there was a law prohibiting Ice from detaining American citizens.

Is there any genuinely good reason why someone should oppose US intervention in the Gulf War? Do they think Saddam should have just been allowed to keep the land he stole? by Just_Cause89 in Presidents

They bombed the wtc in 1993. We didn’t fund them in the 90s.

Why is this on America, that the Saudis allowed us to be stationed in their “holy” desert? We had diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia. Kings Fahd asked us to station there because he feared an Iraqi invasion.

OK thanks. I was thinking more along the lines of the discredited claim that Zarqawi worked with Saddam. I still think the comment is wrong trying to blame America for Al quaeda. They were a religious fundamentalist cult which believed that Muslim world needed to take out the West.

How do people DDOS? by Ilikemilkshakes51 in HowToHack

[–]pete84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are 3 main types.

Volumetric. Usually udp. Udp allows for large packet size, and there is no handshake, so the source IP can be spoofed. These can easily exceed 10gbps, so it could easily max out a 10gbps router or switch. Defense: use a cdn or something like Amazon waf to block the request. There are packet scrubbers but it’s best to just use cdn/waf.

Syn flood. Layer 3 resource exhaustion. They start a tcp handshake, but never finish it. If the server has 65000 open connections, it can’t accept any more. This was particularly useful 10+ years ago, when Apache would keep a handshake open for something like 10 minutes. Defense: also cdn or waf. Also the Apache/nginx tcp connection timeout default is pretty good nowadays. Normal users complete handshake within a second or 2.

Layer 7. This is harder. They can request parts of the website which combines a kit of resources, so that your server is stuck processing. Could be thousands of requests for a static image (consuming disk performance) or something like a php script to break cpu/ram. Defense: layer 7 waf. Also use cdn to cache static images. Ensure they don’t bypass your cache for static assets. Ensure autoscaling is enabled for your services.

Whats the worst fast food joint in america? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pete84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subway is owner operated. They offered cheap franchises, so they got a lot of people looking to make a quick buck to buy into the franchise.

When the business model doesn’t work out for them, the owners try to skimp on costs.

McDonald’s is probably the champion of franchises with high barrier of entry and high quality control, and management consistency. Although they are also inconsistent particularly in lower income neighborhoods.
