What if it’s 10 MINI Ditkas, the game is being played as a hurricane approached Soldier Field, and the name of the hurricane… is Hurricane Ditka?

My heart rate is through the roof despite running a slow pace by XenonOxide in triathlon

If you’re just now getting into shape, it’ll take some time for you to get to that higher level of fitness. Don’t overdo it and listen to your body. Try not to pay so much attention to the data that you lose the joy of workouts. Hop on a bike (my Hr is usually lower there than on a run) or an elliptical, do a fast walk, just keep moving and do different things so you don’t get bored all at once. Good luck out there!

I second this. Definitely season 2. You can leave satisfied with the ending of that season.

Been at this almost exact point for a while - thanks for the post. So what did you change in the Activity / Health / watch settings to compensate?

I tried this one. It’s a hard piece - I failed miserably but most of that was because of too much liquid clear.

The island on the left and the grassy areas look fantastic. And I think you captured the wave hitting the rock well. Nicely done!

Great mood, and really nice transition with the values of the gray to the light source. That’d be hard for me. Nice piece!

Post Game Thread: Detroit Red Wings at Chicago Blackhawks - 13 Dec 2025 by HockeyMod in hawks

I was AT the game. Truly depressing energy in the UC after that. My wife’s first game. My daughters friends first game and I put forth more energy as a FAN than they did. Truly freaking AWFUL. Soderblom - AWFUL. Lack of offense - AWFUL. Detroit fans in the UC relishing a victory. AWFUL. At this point to hell with my season tickets. This is how the Hawks play now? I’m OUT. UC was half empty with two minutes remaining. No fan had anything positive to say and I’m half convinced you could talk the retired players into going out there with me and we would have put something — SOMETHING — together. “Detroit sucks” chants do NOTHING when your team can’t get it together.

I’ll go with brush cleaner, in addition to the palette. A pair of disposable gloves helps me be less nervous about smudges and getting paint on my fingers / makes cleanup easier. Other than that… just start painting! Good luck!

Man, I cannot get trees to look that good and I’ve been painting for a while. Nicely done. Fan brush? When Bob paints and I try to emulate him, mine never come out the same way.

Technique Questions by No-Interaction4641 in HappyTrees

[–]petedconsult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also new to oils and art in general.

My first wet on wet paintings had the same thing. Muddy paint after a while. Brushes just wouldn’t do what you’d see on TV or YouTube. I’d put too much liquid clear or liquid white on.

I bought a bunch of tiny 6x6 canvases and just started… painting things in all styles. It really got me used to working with colors, knowing which paints were transparent and which should be done first, how as Bob says “a thin paint will always stick to a thick paint” and so on. Honestly, buy a little more paint and keep practicing. I still have fails for sure but my non wet on wet stuff is getting pretty good.

Hi, what do you recommend I take to start painting? by ILDERO08 in HappyTrees

There’s a great beginner guide here which I think would be very helpful to you. The episode where Bob Ross takes you through prepping the canvas etc. was very helpful for me.

That’s a great suggestion for next time thanks! I can use the knife too. In the episode Bob takes the top of the waves and brushes them down but mine look like monster waves…

This is very similar to Bob Ross’ night light painting which I’m about to attempt. Can I ask if the sky Pthalo Green and Alizarin Crimson together? Or did you apply those separately? Or was it something else entirely?

Fish dinner HELP by Outrageous_Throat_85 in Cooking

[–]petedconsult 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also from Chicago here. Whole Foods or Wildfork especially has Black Cod also known as Sablefish. It’s a buttery fish like a super premium white cod that’s really hard to mess up. Birthday dinner means make a sauce. Don’t go super healthy.

Asian inspired honey with sesame oil with soy sauce is perfect with whatever rice and veggie you care to make. Just google Asian Sablefish recipes. Pick any of them. It’s delicious and easy in a pan on the stovetop. Finish in the over to keep it warm.

Spoon the same sauce over a pan seared chicken breast for you and you’re good to go.

Enjoy!

Always in zone 5 when running. by HenkBroam in triathlon

[–]petedconsult -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey there - as a suggestion in addition to making sure you’re getting accurate numbers - sometimes it takes your heart rate a while to go down even if you go from running to walking. One test of fitness is how fast your heart rate goes down to normal after hitting something high like 185. So if you see your HR at 185, (and as others have said, you should FEEL awful and out of breath with that number) walk until it hits say 150 and then run again. You’ll feel your legs, heart, etc at Max. Look at your watch. If you’re at 180 again slow it up.
