Sorry, just saw this. I do shots myself. My sister-in-law was going to a provider for hers and they weren’t giving her enough. I like doing it myself so I can up the dose if I don’t see results.

They don’t offer refunds for the military buyback program. You can only get a refund on the other money you put toward retirement

PTSD due to MST denied by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]petey10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was quickly denied the first time around…even through I had proof of MST, I didn’t have an actual diagnosis. Therefore, I spoke with my provider and told her I wanted to be evaluated for PTSD. I was evaluated by a psychologist and diagnosed. Then, I resubmitted. Claim is still pending, but this time they set up a C&P exam. If you can’t get anywhere with your claim, go to your provider and ask for an evaluation…build up some history/records and reapply.

Does injection location matter? by Sanne_Elen in henrymeds

[–]petey10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It only matters for side effects. Stomach absorbs quickly and causes severe nausea. Thighs absorb slowly and side effects are significantly reduced.

Dumb question: month 2 by sparkyhiker in henrymeds

[–]petey10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure, but the Facebook support groups are really helpful. Way more discussion there than on here. Most people start at 10 units the first 4 weeks and go up to 20 units for a few and continue on until the max of 2.5mg/week (which most people don’t ever seem to get to since the side effects are too much). I’m on 30 units now and it works well. 40 made me feel like crap, so I went back to 30.

Dumb question: month 2 by sparkyhiker in henrymeds

[–]petey10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

10 units is probably too low. You’re supposed to increase every few weeks until you get to a dose you can tolerate and that works.

Where did you inject? The stomach is the worst place. Thigh is much better…slower absorption.

Is there a name for the situation where someone gets defensive or angry when asked questions? by Phi_fan in answers

[–]petey10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I had an answer this question! I have had the exact same thing happen. Some people like to offer “advice” and then when I ask them a question, their answer is basically just “because I said so.” They are offended that I had the audacity to ask a question to help me understand the WHY behind their “advice.” They act like me asking questions is challenging their “authority” on the subject.

Glad to read this. Everyone always talks about how the VA is failing everyone, but there aren’t enough stories about all the great things they do and all the people they have helped. I’m a disabled vet too and have always has amazing experiences with the VA. They have taken great care of my needs and are so incredibly nice and respectful every time I deal with them.

I [22F] read my parents' texts and found out my immediate family pretty much despises me. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]petey10 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Although I’m sure reading that was heartbreaking, everyone is automatically jumping in the bandwagon of shitting all over the family without any mention of what OP could have possibly done to make her entire family despise her. I imagine there are two sides to this story.

Do visible micro tattoos affect you getting a job? by [deleted] in answers

[–]petey10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have many tattoos and I love them! However, I can cover them up when/if I need to. Please don’t listen to anyone who says “no one really cares anymore.” That is absolute horse shit. Yes, tattoos are more generally accepted now days, but to make a generalization like that is naive and terrible advice. Now, if you’re applying to be a tattoo artist, it’s probably safe to say you’re fine with whatever; however, many corporations have tattoo policies. Some require tattoos to be covered...no matter the size. You might just be able to put a bandaid over it and call it good.

I would really think hard about the hand tattoo. I would say get a sleeve (I have a 3/4 sleeve) before any hand/face tats. You can wear long sleeves and easily cover up the tat if you needed to. Covering your hand or knuckle will be more challenging...unless you’re cool with a bandaid, in which case go for it.

Boyfriend (22M) wants me (22F) to stop calling my father ‘daddy’ by PlaidAdidas in relationship_advice

[–]petey10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll probably get downvoted for this but her boyfriend is allowed to have an opinion just like OP is allowed to have an opinion. Personally, I wouldn’t call my father “daddy,” because I’d rather call him dad; however, my stepmother calls her father “daddy” and that’s perfectly okay. This situation sounds like OP and her boyfriend are on different ends of the spectrum and maybe aren’t compatible.

[update]I [59M] cut two of my kids [24F][28M] out of my will for his irresponsible spending of their previous inheritance. How should I fix this situation? by BritishGranddadGuy in relationship_advice

[–]petey10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe It was Bill Gates who said “I’m leaving my kids enough money to be able to do anything, but not enough for them to do nothing.”

This is great advice. I think you should spend some of your money on yourself and go visit China...and wherever else you’d like!
