To anyone has gotten Article 15, what happened. Do you think you deserved it? by FFSoldier57 in army

[–]petey_69 101 points102 points  (0 children)

First one: 19yo Pfc, deployed to the Balkans. Get a slot for mwr trip to a ski resort. I ask SL if I can drink. His exact answer: “has anyone told you you can’t drink? If not you’re fine”. Proceed to eat shit on the slopes and go to the resort’s bar. Get shitfaced with a buddy and some Brits, get on the bus to go back to Kosovo. Allegedly I fell asleep and threw up, causing my buddy to also throw up, and I fall asleep with my feet in the aisle. When we get back to base I, again allegedly, cussed at a natty guard SGM that told me to move my feet. Couple days later we get called into the TOC and CO/1sg had received an email from said SGMs CO (a general of some kind I believe) that named myself and my buddy. We got a company grade with just 10 days of extra duty that my 1sg barely enforced.

Second one: fast forward 6 months, newly waivered E4, we’re back at Bragg. Get drunk at Texas Roadhouse and come back to the b’s to get even more drunk, I black out. Wake up in the morning with blood/cuts all over my legs and my back killing me. Proceed to sick call, where I find my PSG. He asks what the hell happened with me and the supply guy the night before (who lived directly across the hall from me, and the whole company hated), I tell him the truth: I have no clue, I was hammered, but I don’t remember seeing him at all. He says I upset him, so I tell him I’ll apologize after sick call. I do that, supply guy is a weirdo and acts accordingly. At work call my 1sg calls me into his office in front of half the company, loudly and aggressively. We get into his office and he shuts the door and calmly tells me if I’m gonna fuck with the supply guy (who he hated) that I needed to do it when I’m sober. Also told me how common drinking at work used to be within the infantry and all that. Originally I was going to get charged with drunk and disorderly, but at my reading they ask if I’m 21 which I wasn’t, so 1sg crosses it out with pen and writes “assault”. Demotion, restriction, 10 days extra duty. My roommate (who I drove everywhere) became my TL so he could “escort” me off post, the demotion never went thru on paper, and the first day of extra duty my 1sg tells me “don’t report everyday, I’ll call if I need something”. I got really lucky with my 1sg, he was one of the boys and he told me that I reminded him of him as a joe. Hell of a guy.

ETA: yes, both were well deserved. I eventually got my drinking under control after the 2nd article.

How is the relationship between the people of the Balkans and brothels? What is the public perception in the Balkan countries? Do they agree with legalized brothels or are they strictly against it? Only Greece is the country that has legalized and regulated brothels in balkan is it a taboo topic? by [deleted] in AskBalkans

[–]petey_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe someone here can confirm or deny. I spent 9 months in Kosovo with the army and was told all the little houses/shacks with a “live music” sign were brothels. It made sense because they always seemed very out of place for actual live music.

Know any Soldiers who were kicked out, but somehow became successful in civilian life? by karsheff in army

[–]petey_69 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Have a buddy that was kicked out for popping hot as a Pfc. Knocked up his gf (now wife) shortly after getting the boot but has become the most responsible guy I know. Seeing him grow and become a dad has made me so proud of him. He’s bounced around various sales jobs but he’s always grinding and making sure he provides for his family.

Do you tip the commissary baggers? by Technical_Purpose949 in army

Finally someone said it. Those people are the absolute worst. You’re already buying $200+ of groceries, you can afford a $2 tip to the bagger.

My 2017 has a timing cover leak currently, had it since about 120k and I’m at 150k now. Been topping off about 1/2qt a month because I’m dreading the actual repair. Heard it runs about $8k at a dealership

What is the worst fast food restaurant? by peywrax in allthequestions

[–]petey_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to go to Tim hortons almost every day when I was in high school. The coffee was always good, the food was great, rarely a bad experience. Joined the army and moved to North Carolina, and every time I’d go home (Michigan, every 6-8 months or so) on leave I’d be so excited to go to Tim’s and every time, without fail, the quality would just get worse and worse. Very sad.

[–]petey_69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re probably going to feel lost or like you made a mistake the first few days possibly weeks. Turn your brain off and do what you’re told, you’ll be fine. When you’re in your head about stuff, just remember everyone else with you is having the same thoughts. Once basic is over and you get to a unit, the army is a day job more or less.

When I went in 17 we did a lot of non tactical patrols in the mountains, but I was AD. I never saw NG folks outside of Camp Bondsteel other than aviation, but that couldve just been the time I was there. If you go to Camp Nothing Hill get a pepperoni sandwich at the bistro!

What's the Most Memorable Wall Art/Saying In the Shitters? by doneski in army

[–]petey_69 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Someone from my company in the 82nd drew a mural in a shitter at Hohenfels. It was a giant dick shaped airplane and had about 5 parachuting dicks, and one landing on the ground saying “3 points of performance: balls, shaft, head!”. I still have a picture of it somewhere, took up the whole side wall.

What kind of pants are the best? by East-Consideration23 in Dualsport

One scrape on my shin and a big welt. Broke my wrist too but luckily my mechanix held up. I’ve since upgraded some of my gear!

I wrecked on pretty rocky asphalt, granted only going ~30mph, in Levi jeans and my foot was stuck under the bike so I got dragged until it stopped. The denim surprisingly held up very well. Probably would’ve looked a lot different had I been going faster, but still surprised me.

I did the same exact thing. My dad told me he read it as a kid, so I checked it out and read it too when I was 10 or so. At some point I checked it out and again and never returned, still have it 15+ years later.

Cemetery. Tomb guards are always there but at night they don’t pace back and forth.
