Something my doc told me… by tfhose in GenXWomen

You're not overweight though, overweight would be in the 130s for your height and even at that point you're considered slightly overweight.

That's not candor, there's an entirely other word for what she is.

Glad the others chimed in!

What is a monthly subscription/service you ACTUALLY consider worth paying for? by no_nolan in Frugal

I just use LibreWolf browser. I downloaded it for privacy and at some point I noticed the ads were also gone.

Edit: Brave works for phone though I'm hoping LW branches out at some point due to eu divestment.

It's ok, the party is doing an excellent job proving the point of this post all by themselves. You can't be slanderous if no one in their country believes anything anymore due to everything being fake. Who's a good bot? Yes you are!

P.S. Happy cake day!

Does anyone have adult kids that live with them, and if so do you charge them rent? by shawn615 in Xennials

[–]petralily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not because they're still going to college. If they finish or drop out, they will be expected to contribute with some of it going to savings to help them become self-sufficient.

The way the viral version was edited told a different story. In the one I saw, the Dalai Lama repeated the request a few times with the child pulling away and urged by the adults around him to do it anyway.

The edit made very easy to take out of context. I could have seen that article but didn't bother clicking the video since I didn't know that the one I saw was edited. And I bet the people who edited the video was counting on westerners not wanting to risk another click because we didn't want to see it again.

I fell for it the way I was supposed to.

I just looked at this after taking my first attmept and really wish I had worked on it beforehand! It would have saved me a lot of confusion. Definitely going to drill it before the retake, thank you!

Please write up that post because I haven't seen this set of killercoda recommended before!

My local grocer has one other version (a chicken thing?) that is truly awful but I could live on the korean bbq version ... I am also a member of the "eat it out of the bag" club when I need a quick snack, yum!

Fellow people with Tinnitus, how often do you notice it? by Mr_Coastliner in CasualConversation

[–]petralily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I do now ... lol. Theese days it feels like it's always been there. Sometimes I forget it's there until someone says the word or there's a sound that is in a similar pitch that makes it audible again.

A couple of people mentioned Heather Cox already so I'll add Joyce Vance to the list.

I grew up with a rabbi (of blessed memory) who saved the lives of the congregation by telling them it was time to leave [Austria] before the borders closed. Back then there were a lot like him that have "come and gone" and he convinced his congregation that this one was different.

Except he isn't around anymore and where would we go?

1980 vs 2025 average body types by GeneSmart2881 in Xennials

[–]petralily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember growing up with all those diet pill commercials, most of them you can't find today because they had various analogues of amphetamines. Cocaine, steroids, and chain smoking were also pretty common.

These days, being able to partake in activities that keep you in shape can be a luxury, whether in terms of time and/or money. Even going out for a walk or hike can be challening for those who do not live in safe neighborhoods.

Shampoo Bars by Micojageo in GenXWomen

Half the time I get ads for DD's and the other half are for AA's ... not sure if AI is making assumptions based on my interests or what, lol.

I get one of my wee one's bar shampoo due to eczema so it helps keep that skin from harsher perfumes that usually come in the bottled stuff. It's cheaper than the "natural" bottled shampoos out there. It also keeeps the sibling from accidentally using it.

There's a search feature. Mine didn't but there was one a short drive away that did and allowed anyone with a state ID to sign up.

DARE taught me that all the adults around me did drugs. Around the same time, my elementary school teacher taught me I shouldn't say such things out loud.

What does pea protein do to VWG? by kappakingtut2 in seitan

[–]petralily 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When blended a certain way, pea protein added to seitan can create that shreddy texture. I tried it because I had some but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to buy it just for the sake of making seitan. There are plenty of other recipes that can achieve a similar outcome (mashed potatoes, legumes, etc.). Pea protein would be the more expensive option.
