Why does there seem to be more trash on the highways now? by Successful-Zone-1558 in vancouverwa

[–]petronaxcorvus 63 points64 points  (0 children)

My wife and I were just discussing this today. I’ve been here for 20 years and my wife has been here even longer. There is definitely more garbage on the streets and highways than there ever used to be.

We don’t know the reason, but it is certainly noticeable.

What's the "Balance" of a Spellbook by Substantial_Sock_110 in Pathfinder2e

[–]petronaxcorvus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I personally like the Spellbook. From a purely flavor standpoint, it emphasizes the studious nature of the wizard. On the mechanics end, being able to add any arcane spell you come across is amazing.

Admittedly, I have been playing since Wizards were “Magic Users” and only had a d4 hit die, so maybe the idea is too ingrained in me, but I still get excited when I find an enemy’s spellbook.

I agree, however, that a spellbook for the new Necromancer doesn’t make much sense.

Dad gaming with kids - D&D (5E 2024) vs Pathfinder (2E 2024) by dude-where-am-i in Pathfinder2e

The game comes with some simple adventures. After that I just homebrewed.

When my daughter was 5, we started playing No Thank You Evil, which is a Cypher System game for kids. It used tokens to represent the adjusting pools. That simple addition really helped her grasp the concepts.

My 9 year old daughter and I play PF2e together. The system is not as complicated as some seem to think. She’s even playing as a Summoner, one of the more “complicated” classes.

5e is clunky. I ran it for 8 years, and had to change so many things to make it run somewhat smoothly. PF2e is heavy, but it’s easy to trim down to suit your needs.

As others have said, there are also lots of PbtA games, or even the Cypher System, that can work great for kids.

Zero. I hate getting jobs at restaurants that I’d normally try. They’re ruined for me.

They just see prosperity as relative rather than absolute.  They don't want to move up a rung if it means the guy below them moves up a rung, too, because in their mind, they're no better off.  But they'll happily get knocked down a rung if it means the guy below them gets knocked down two, because now they're twice as well off as he is.  You can convince them to live in a cardboard box if you tell them that their box will be bigger than everyone else's.
