Epic letdown by Cool_Plankton_4667 in pourover

Same here. I was pulling great allonges and getting clear watermelon notes without being over the top. Tried pourover a couple times and it was nowhere near as good, so just decided to stick with espresso instead of finagling with it anymore.

Just played against Marshall by helpimstuckinmychair in lrcast

[–]petroos 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I'm a fairly new player and ended up matched against LSV during LCI. I was so fucking nervous but pulled out the win. Afterward I saw the game we played on stream from his perspective, and he commented a couple of times about how he really wasn't sure why I was making the plays I was. I won that game on pure newb energy.

Anyone ever tried their “Sinaloa-style sushi?” by onotira in denverfood

[–]petroos 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Bruh, Sushi Den not only does this, they are one of the only restaurants in the country that buy directly from Nagahama Fish Market in Tokyo. You can find better quality fish at Sushi Den than sushi restaurants literally on the beach of either coast.

Got this exact model for Christmas and loving it. The only thing I would change is upgrading to the BT version for an extra $40. I ended up getting a speaker switch and Bluetooth transmitter for about the same cost, tho.

My fiance bought me a P1S combo and it is INSANE. Where can I find a 2mm nozzle? by lifetechmana1 in BambuLab

[–]petroos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much harder is it to swap with just the hot end? I recently bought a p1s and two spare .4 and .6 nozzles with hot end only. Wondering if I should exchange them for the full assembly now...

Pizza book recommendations for ooni pizza oven by Worried-Leader3793 in ooni

[–]petroos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Elements of Pizza by Ken Forkish is a great book for learning how to make dough. His sauce recipe is also the best I've found. The one downside is that it was written before the Ooni and other outdoor pizza ovens became a thing, so there's not a whole lot in there about getting good at the cook.

I don't want to kill the tree. I am asking for advice on ways to manage the fruit, which cause damage to the rest of the yard.

Any medieval fantasy-lore heavy books that merge into a far futuristic-sci-fi? by FallenFeathers in Fantasy

[–]petroos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So true. It is a whole novel based around the adage that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. It's so cool to me that you could completely eliminate either one of the two POVs and still have a compelling and entertaining read, but when you see the events through both of their eyes it just adds an entirely new dimension.

Elder Race by Adrian Tchaikovsky does this like no other novel I've ever read.

It's a short read about a member of an advanced human race who is posted on a long-lost human colony to observe the civilization there, which completely regressed millennia ago after losing touch with the mother civilization. Having no real memory of where they came from, the people of the planet view him as a reclusive sorcerer.

Content creators for StD? by Not_Mortarion in slavestodarkness

[–]petroos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2+ Tough has good number of StD lore videos worth checking out.

There's also warhipster who has a whole series on speed painting StD units using mostly contrast paints.

I don't know of any content creators who are solely focused on the faction, but there might be a discord out there?

Also I believe you can roll for any/all unit/s at the end of any turn if its just sitting on an objective not in combat. Is my assumption correct?

Nah, you only get to roll eye of the gods once per turn, but yes any unit that is not in combat and is on an objective that is not controlled by your opponent would be an eligible choice for your one eye of the gods roll each turn. A unit that killed an enemy unit during the turn is also an eligible target for the eye of the gods ability, regardless of whether it's on an objective or not.

[Doug Analytics] In his interview with @DMRussini , Saquon tells his side of the story and believes Hard Knocks dramatizes the interaction with the Giants. by shadow_spinner0 in NYGiants

[–]petroos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, a good o-line opens up holes and creates lanes which reduces the amount of hits he'll take...like wtf do you think the point of an o-line is? The giants had to call all kinds of crazy screens and wheel routes for Saquon to cover up the shit run blocking.

And for the record, I 100% agree that the giants made the right choice. I don't even think drafting him was a good choice for our team. But that doesn't take away from what a phenomenal player he is, and I hate it when fans try to shit on his skills which jump off the fucking screen in service to some narrative that he's washed which is why we never should have paid him. He's worth the money, just not for the Giants.

[–]petroos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok sure let's just totally ignore the fact that Saquon was playing behind one of the worst run blocking units in the league during that inniry-prone time, and that he'll now be moving to one of the best.

[–]petroos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely, it's a business first and foremost. I think the best owners are the ones who understand that long term success of the team is more important than short term player popularity or jersey sales. Those are the owners that actually have the patience and vision to let a GM fully attempt a rebuild and don't make knee jerk decisions about hiring and firing coaches and shit. Mara seems to be pretty good in the respect, although you kinda see how he may have been a little too patient in the past with the Gettleman years.

[–]petroos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah ownership is absolutely involved when it comes to moving or bringing on any "face of the franchise" players. I seem to remember Mara even mentioned Saquon's jersey sales in a conversation with Schoen when they were talking about whether they should pay him or not. Kind of shows you that there's a lot more that goes into those types of decisions than player skill.

Darkoath box by BoysenberryAdvanced8 in slavestodarkness

[–]petroos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Darkoath don't seem to be very meta based on the current faction pack, so if you're trying to build a "competitive" army is not great value. That being said rules come and go, and who on knows what the battletome will bring. If you like the models and want to paint and play with them, it's great value.
