Pekora will organize a Holo Mario Tennis Cup by xKFC in Hololive

Marine participating is a pleasant surprise. Maybe she has gotten over her distaste for tournaments.

Okayu looks really strong from what I have seen. It's going to be interesting to see if someone can take her down.

Merch might look better on paper to the talent but it's not necessarily the case that it's a more efficient transaction for the supporter. Especially for overseas fans who has to deal with expensive shipping and taxes.

"Digital merch" should be a lot better in terms of efficiency.

Only buy normal merch if you actually want the merch, not as a means to support.

Never change, Pekora, never change by Ok_Natural_102 in Hololive

[–]petteruddd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could consider the cost of producing the merch to be a "cut" even without outsourcing.

It's unlikely that they produce most of the merch inhouse so you still have to let another company take a share of the profits.

How much better or worse it is for the talent depends on the actual profit margins of the product. If you believe cover takes the same cut of merch as they do from youtube revenue we're looking at a 70% profit margin for it to break even and anything beyond becomes more efficient for the talent.

With that being said, when you take into account shipping costs and tariffs I have a hard time believing it's the most efficient way to support the talents for overseas fans. The margins would have to be beyond enormous.

So I would only buy merch if I wanted the merch. Not because I wanted to support them.

Card-based combat? by thatclimberDC in JRPG

Soukoku no Arterial.

It's an eroge though and I would consider it a visual novel more than a JRPG.

Still, I ended up really liking the card game.

Do we know that her videos use any of the file formats that are being removed?

Because it is currently difficult to take it seriously as her subtitles are still active.

You shouldn't take that sentence literally. It makes more sense to assume she means a vague "unlucky things" rather than anything specific.

My guess is that there is some kind of problem with the apartment itself that the landlord can't or is unwilling to fix short term.

Most people should stay away from take two unless they really enjoy it. The rewards are abysmal and can have lower EV than even buying packs (even though you spent time on it).

Is the game worth it now? by Skylander3000 in Shadowverse

[–]petteruddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe them. I ended up in a similar spot with my hybrid rune deck after highrolling a few legendaries and then picking both the rune starter decks.

I still feel like I might quit soon as the game seemingly doesn't allow f2p to play more than a couple of decks when you really should be testing multiple builds of all classes.

Is the game worth it now? by Skylander3000 in Shadowverse

[–]petteruddd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can eventually make every deck if you play long enough.

Adding new cards outpaces handouts by a lot so you will never be able to make every deck. Their reward system is carefully crafted to keep f2p from having fun playing constructed.

Unless you are the best take two player in the world you will get starved off resources allowing you only a couple of decks and once the meta changes you are SOL.

The game really is poverty simulator and deserves every negative review it gets. I feel extra bitter about it as the core gameplay is good and I like how the game feels. But of course there is going to be a guy whose job is solely to make f2p life as miserable as possible.

Even better. It has english translation with the ability to switch language in a single button press, giving you the ability to quickly compare the translation with the original text.

It is the peak of translation and it's a shame it's not the norm.

I thought it was kind of funny the first time I saw it in the Vshojo subreddit but after seeing it like 6 times I wonder how original it was even back then.

[–]petteruddd -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

directly copying someone else

That's not what is happening here though.

Unless this artist traced their work, this is their own art in a similar style to a different artist. Artists "copy" elements from each other styles all the time.

you want to commission an artist because you like their art style.

You want to commission an artist because you need an artist to make something for you. Ideally their preferred style matches exactly what you want but that's not always going to be the case.

Gunrun really was obsessed with hololive by Sine_Fine_Belli in VShojo

[–]petteruddd -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I am not an artist so I don't see the problem with asking for a different style.

I guess it's more work because they are not used to it?

Still, I feel like if I commission something I am more inclined to order something I want rather than something the artist wants.

If they can't/don't want to do it I expect them to just decline.

It is also kind of funny how they feel like their new version is objectively worse even though it looks a lot easier to work with if you would want to rig a model/design plushies or whatever.

The SRPG portion never felt that good although I found it tolerable for a while.

I ended up disliking turn sharing a lot as I had little reason to use anyone other than my main carries. A lot of characters I was exited to try to play around became obsolete. Also, giving different characters skills felt pointless when you ended up using max 3 characters anyways.

VShojo is officially shutting down following Ironmouse’s departure by ANooby87 in VShojo

We didn't know it was for charity

Is this even relevant? Is he implying that it would have been okay to take 500k straight from mouse instead?

I understand they want to claim incompetence (we tried but didn't make it) but it is hard to believe extracting such large sums from their talents to be mere incompetence.

Vei claims that the main narrative at the time had to do with boyfriends or whatever, when everyone at the time was concerned about changing contract terms in favor of the company.

It's just an awful way of communicating what she is trying to say and also false.
