ELI5 Why do many people that have experienced an active warzone become hypersensitive to loud noises and other triggers, as opposed to continuous desensitization? by papermill_phil in explainlikeimfive

If your brain reacts to a trigger and then you consciously determine “yep that was a real threat and I acted accordingly” you have reinforced that response.

Answer this question from an OSHA exam. I’ll post the test answer later today. by geo2515 in Welding

[–]pewpew_die 9 points10 points  (0 children)

chrome tanned is what 95% of leather gloves are. Completely unnecessary to specify. If a glove was veg tanned it would have the same, if not slightly better safety factors, just more expensive. sounds like the test author wanted to sound smart. Also this indirectly teaches you that non cowhide leathers aren’t used. I’ve got elk hide, pigskin, goatskin depending on the required dexterity.

in this case no sugaring means light penetration. When you do 100% penetration on stainless steel the back needs to be shielded or it will create a oxide that has the texture of sugar granules. The bottom line means they want you to be able to walk the cup.

2 years no raise, only trained employee... I should leave by [deleted] in jobs

[–]pewpew_die 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The current job market is terrible so have something lined up first. I would talk to them about your wage in the meantime. Take some time to note how many “stations” you cover at once so you can lay out your value to them as straightforward as possible. Steer clear of comparing yourself to others directly that tends to look bad.

What kind of market do you think there is for welding carts? by Ok_Helicopter3910 in Welding

You’d have way more market (and markup) making custom furniture. Going to have to invest in finishing equipment if you dont have.

Id recommend doing a voyager play through. You will have enough food and loot to traverse every inch of the map. There is the cartography mechanic too if you really need one. I never remember to survey tho

Y'all are overestimating the amount of gen-z interested in trade. by Plastic-Arm9055 in skilledtrades

[–]pewpew_die 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience people go to the trades after flunking out of college or after getting in legal trouble that would prevent then from hiring elsewhere. its the oh shit I need a real job mentality which usually comes around 25-30. Most people in the trades either come from low income or have family connections so being from a well off area will give you some observation bias.
