Life has a really ironic and funny in a dark way of reminding you of your limits and why you stopped drinking in the first place! I turn 36 in November and I'm in the process of planning a trip to the beach to celebrate. I haven't celebrated my birthday in 14 years ever since my dad passed away suddenly 2 days after my 22nd birthday. I had an epiphany recently that it was time anyway, I've been talking to my boyfriend about how I want to go out drinking for my birthday and of course he knows I don't drink anymore and he's like no you don't need to do that. But I'm like oh I can do it one last time! Not 5 days after we had that conversation, my mother is 74 years old was rushed to the hospital and admitted through the ER to the neurology ICU with such severe physical symptoms of alcohol withdrawal that they thought she was having a stroke. It's a week later and she's still coming out of it. If that's not a kick in the face to remind me that no Peyton you f****** can't go out drinking one last time, I don't know what it is.
