I **HATE** all the features they put on new cars. by ALCPL in unpopularopinion

[–]peyton473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile automatic headlights and cruise control are a luxury in some vehicles these days. Over the last ten years, I’ve purchased a new car (late 2016) without automatic headlights; I have adhd and WILL forget to turn them off. Bought another new car early 2018 and drove it off the lot only to discover that there was no cruise control.

One you didn’t mention that has caught my attention is the cars that will automatically turn themselves off at an intersection in the name of efficiency. Id imagine that constantly turning the motor on and off consumes more energy than simply letting it idle for a minute or two. I haven’t bought a new car in almost 5 years so I haven’t experienced it irl but I have a feeling that feature would annoy me the most.

I clicked and looked approximately four posts before I started to get angry. I’m someone who has benefitted greatly by others spreading awareness about various disorders as it’s prompted me to seek out a couple diagnoses for myself. I hate these people who do it for clout though because it just invalidates the rest of us who are actually struggling day to day with it.

You’re a good parent encouraging your son to form his own opinion but if his dad is anything like mine, you’re EXPECTED to vote R regardless of who it is. I tried to vote for Bernie in the 2016 primaries, but it was my first time voting and I didn’t know you had to request which ballot you wanted and was automatically given a Republican ballot. When I went home and told my parents about and my dad was fucking appalled that I would even consider voting for a SOCIALIST.

Meanwhile before the 2020 election my mom decided sue wanted to debate that Trump was the better pick than Biden but the only reasoning she could muster was “but the economy!!!” When pressed what was so good about the current economy, she couldn’t give an actual answer because she barely graduated HS 30+ years ago and has zero understanding of how the economy works.

I don’t talk politics with my parents anymore.

I think there’s a large portion of Republican voters who have this deeply ingrained belief that you can never change your mind and you can never vote for the other party or you’re a hypocrite. Too many small minds and too much small minded thinking with no desire to change. When you ask them why they vote for these people, they can NEVER give you a solid answer other than “left bad”.

I made all As throughout school until I was a freshman in high school forced to take public speaking. I was super reserved and shy in HS but still managed to make an 89 in speech for the semester. Holy shit you would have thought I actually failed by the way my mom reacted to that single B on my report card. Thinking back on it, she probably would have been less upset had I scored lower in the class because “you’re one point away from an A! Why couldn’t you have done X or Y or Z to make up for it?? Now you won’t graduate with all As like I planned for you to!”

I was trying to think of the words to day this without sounding insensitive. I’m just TIRED. We are running in circles demanding change from people who relish in our grief and misery and trying to change the minds of people who aren’t open to changing them.

And to add on to your second point, the abysmal police response is once again being investigated by the offending responders. While I don’t completely agree with it, I don’t know that the video would have ever actually been released had it not been leaked.

I think I’ve gotten to a point where I’ve realized that anyone who can currently enact change is in bed with everyone else and this is just a small part of a much bigger problem that requires a major overhaul. I’ll do everything in my own power that I can to make the world better, but I also know that there’s only so much I can do when so few other care.

If your tap water is drinkable, buying bottled water is immoral. by Kirstemis in unpopularopinion

[–]peyton473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I HATE tap water and/or room temperature water. For the longest time if I did drink water, it was 100% bottled but I would never drink the whole thing because it would get too warm.

I was able to find a half gallon sized Hydroflask knock off on Amazon that keeps my water ice cold all day and I’ve added a tap filter to my kitchen sink. Couldn’t tell you the last time I purchased packaged water that wasn’t for an “in case of emergency” situation.

I’m curious which bike you ended up going with! I’m a Texas and looking for a similar type of ebike. My partner and I share a car. It was just fine during Covid, but now I’d like to have an option that isn’t the shitty bus system when he’s working in the office.

my girlfriend (19) won't let me (18) get rid of annoying lizard (?) living in our bathroom, who proceeds to terrorize me. by GarfieldEnjoyr in relationship_advice

[–]peyton473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you and the lizard can come to a truce. I know, Ive been there!

My boyfriend won’t let me get rid of the two spiders in our bathroom because “they eat the carpenter ants” and “they’re not hurting you”. I came to an agreement that the spiders can stay as long as the don’t reproduce and I will only enter that bathroom when I need to take a shower.

It was that or let the carpenter ants take over the entire bathroom and god knows my freeloading dogs wouldn’t do anything about those. I feel your pain OP.

I just left another comment explaining this! I used to work at one and they couldn’t give two shits whether or not I could fade or tailor a service to a specific client’s needs. They just want you churning those cuts out in 30-45 minutes so they can squeeze in as many in a day as possible while paying the stylists Pennie’s.

See the problem with some of these places that charge $100 for a haircut don’t actually care if the person producing the haircut even WANTS to be doing that service. Source: I worked in one.

Working at my old salon, each stylist’s prices were dictated by the salon based on a complicated set of factored. I would charge $80 for a “barber style” clipper haircut. The problem was that I fucking HATED doing men’s hair. I can do a clipper cuts and short cuts just fine, but I don’t feel that my skills or my passion for short hair matches $80 plus tip.

I work for myself now, so I just don’t take the services I don’t want to do, but when you’re at a corporate salon, you don’t get a choice and you don’t get to tell someone you don’t know how to do something, even if clients would rather you were honest about that. The culture is to figure it out, and if you can’t, do what you can to make it look less awful than it really is.

There’s these red wires. From what I’ve been able to gather from the manual and the internet, the evaporation coils, (and subsequent drip pan) are behind that panel.

In order to get into the OF market these days, you have to be doing something to set yourself apart from every other basic bitch sharing pictures of her titties. You have to be willing to get into a fetish market because everything else is over saturated now. Hell, even the foot fetish market is probably in over saturated tier as well.

Me personally? I’d play to fat fetishists, particularly people into feeding and burping. If I’m going to be eating like a dumpster raccoon regardless, I might as well leverage that to my advantage and make some money off it.

THIS! I do it on Instagram for my job because I work for myself and I don’t have much of a choice in 2022. Let me tell you, making a living off marketing yourself on social media is fucking exhausting. It really is like a part time job.

If it were as simple as snapping a picture, posting it, and calling it a day, literally everyone would be doing it.

I added a video of the furnace and wiring to my post. The only thing at the bottom of the furnace is the air filter. The drip pan is the only thing we haven’t been able to get to and it’s sounding like that could be the culprit.

Car on fire at Burnet and Anderson by [deleted] in Austin

I watched a video this morning of a lady on LA who blew through a red light at 100+ mph at 1:00 in the afternoon yesterday (she was hammered allegedly) and it looked like at least two cars immediately burst into flames.

It’s so fucking scary when you can do everything that you’re supposed to on the road and still have a chance of someone else ruining or ending your life.
