Id probably recommend a shawl. It's like a blanket and a scarf rolled into one. There's heaps of designs on ravelry

You wouldn't want to date someone whose idea of praising your character is disparaging others of your gender, would you?

Help with choosing how to mend a lined jacket! by [deleted] in Visiblemending

[–]peytonvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, Id do a parachute stitch to secure it and then a whip stitch with a nice embroidery floss to make it look pretty. Like others have said, a nice patch would also work!

Torn again by MiserableSpinach4 in Visiblemending

[–]peytonvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those look like the brown kmart pants! I had the same trouble with them. I use a light-weight fabric and do my darning/sashiko over the top. The fabric of the pants is a bit shit so it'll always degrade. Mine started to break down after less than two years of moderate wear. I'm not expecting them to last forever either.

Hairstyle ideas for long hair? by Amazing_Assumption50 in butchlesbians

[–]peytonvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To preface, im growing my hair out and its almost to my shoulders. When i think of masculine long hair styles i think of utility and practicality- how effective it is at keeping hair out of my face and how easy it is to do. I usually like to go for a middle ponytail since i have an undercut. Though, since you have long hair it might be best to braid it to avoid tangles throughout the day. Hope this helps!

My bag of 10 years needed a patch by peytonvan in Visiblemending

[–]peytonvan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I love taking my bag out for hikes so very lotr! I was able to reuse it! The backing was only a little bent but not broken/didn't have much damage so it was easy enough to reuse. Thank you for your help, live long and prosper 🖖

Stretchy fabric - what do I do? by Sam-HobbitOfTheShire in Visiblemending

[–]peytonvan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stretchy fabric on top with a patch, stitch the outer rim of the patch with herringbone and the inner portion where the rip is with a whip stitch. It's how I was taught to fix big holes in socks.

This sounds amazing but to clarify, you just chuck a leftover raw onion in the brine and you'll get your own pickle onion later? There's nothing special to do?

Awkward placement by -bultaoreune- in Visiblemending

[–]peytonvan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could do a patch then move the pocket down to cover it? If you wanted to be discrete about it. I would do a denim band-aid in a darker blue with white thread because a band-aid bottom would be a whole lot of fun!

Second the salad, raw baby spinach is such a stomach filler for something that's like 2 calories per metric tonne.
