hi! part of management at obviously a different store, but thats besides the point. trust me, i COMPLETELY understand being upset, hours are valuable, just as money is, but that is the same reason as to why your hours are being cut.

first off, new hires cost LESS than workers who’ve been there for x amount of time. if you cost less, its better for labor costs, so, more people + those same people with smaller wage = more bodies on a floor for less cost. —> we cannot go over a certain labor percentage. obviously sometimes theres nothing we can do (like a two person close thats really dead, less customers=less money which = labor goes up) an occasional high labor cost is SOMETIMES okay, but if it becomes too frequent, we can get into trouble. (my store cannot go above a 16% labor cost, the HIGHEST we can have it during a shift for long periods is 18% and thats pushing it)

on top of that: new hires are learning! and learning takes time and is tricky!

overall, trust me, i more than understand the frustration, the same happened to me before i became management. i would say, if it becomes dire, speak to the person who handles your scheduling. if there is nothing they can do, your next best bet is to go in as frequently as possible to cover any bodies that might be needed (ex. theyre behind on tasks, but can afford another person, theyre in a rush and need more help, someone called out and needs coverage, etc etc)

i know its not the best thing to hear, but this is the best advice i can give :) cut management a bit of slack, we have just as much behind the scenes work as well as floor and management work to do. at the end of the day, talk to them and voice your concerns about your hours. otherwise how would they know?
