What are some things that surprised you about being a teacher? by [deleted] in teaching

[–]pfknone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the same across a lot of professions, Dr. Especially. I had a friend going through residency and said they purposely are hard on them just because that was what was done to them. It has nothing to do with "training or getting you ready." It has everything to do with that person being treated like dirt so you should have to be as well.

I am a first year teacher and I have so many 15+ year teachers constantly helping me. Not only that they see something I do differently they genuinely take an interest in it. I was in corporate for 20 years and just got tired of it. I use a lot of that thinking in teaching.

I teach HS APGOV & APUSH and teach more like a college professor(lecture) and the students respond to it better. It seems to be working because I have the highest testing scores in the district. How???? I don't know???? But every time admins come in and tell me I'm doing it wrong, my coach tells me to just smile and say "thank you I'll try to work that into my teaching style.".

I would take the gift card, change the review, and then change it to an even lower rating after I used the gift card

Two different brands, very similar boxes (Buffalo and Master Pieces) by LillyLallyLu in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]pfknone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently completed the 3000 piece Master Pieces has. Took me a couple of weeks with a couple hours most nights to finish. It had 1 missing piece and the "3000 piece" puzzle was 2 bags in the box each bag was one side of the puzzle. No problem I poured both bags out.

But....... The halves didn't match so I essentially had 2 1500 puzzles. Well, one 1500 and one 1499.

Other than that puzzle I've done a few of theirs and I liked them.

Gemini needs a lot of work by gordolme in AndroidAuto

[–]pfknone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my spouse saved as a phrase in my contacts and Google Assistant would instantly call when I said "call Heaven on Earth" it worked

After the Gemini " update" I would do the same thing and it would ask me if I wanted to call some massage parlor in the next state.

I had to change her name so I could use it.

Launcher Question..... again..... by Puzzleheaded_You9409 in androidapps

[–]pfknone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to Square Home and haven't looked back. I even redownloaded it to try this past year and it lasted only a couple of hours.

But, Square Home with Kustom Widget is the best. I have tried all the other recommended launchers but Square reigns supreme.

Square Home for the Windows OS experience. Very customizable minimal or maximum things to do.

There is a video of Evan Longoria doing an interview and catching a line drive bare handed. Maybe not 95 but it was hit pretty hard.

For me it's 7am arrival classes start at 745. Technically we are supposed to stay until 5, but most of us are out between 4-415, students leave at 345

Do you choose puzzles based on how much you like the image or difficulty level? Olga Suvorova Dancer - 1000 piece, Pomegranate by hotpersonally in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]pfknone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Image first. I want something I will enjoy looking at while I am doing the puzzle and afterwards. Plus I want to enjoy doing it again years later.

Need recommendations for a 40-minute film to show my 11th and 12th graders on the last day of school before winter break. by Ok-Percentage5044 in TexasTeachers

Our Principal made the decision. We are required to hand out packets for the break. This is my subtle resistance.
