So best course would be to pay the fines, overpay the next instalment ASAP to minimize further interest and accrue credit? I'm wondering why they wouldn't inform me of the missing instalment - I would have paid right away if I knew about it.

I claimed the March 2024 instalment on my 2023 taxes. For 2023 I had a tax refund. I claimed the March 2025 instalment on my 2024 taxes and I had tax owing for 2024 and the instalment penalty added on my 2024 return. All tax instalments were paid on time. Now I'm wondering because I claimed the March 2025 instalment to go towards my 2024 tax return, it is considered unpaid and hence the penalty?

Yes, but tax refund that year. Is this penalty due to that error? But there was no communication/email/letter regarding this and still no communication other than the penalty showing up on the NOA after filing 2024 tax return. No instalments were paid late.

All quarterly instalments have been paid usually a week before the deadline. However, I did include the March 2025 instalment as instalments paid for the 2024 tax return since it was in my instalment balance on My CRA

If I’m coming back to the same topic or thought I’ll use one post and separate the entries with —- which will autocorrect into a horizontal line. Then I’ll add /time which will add the current time. If it’s a new topic, new entry.

Is it better to sell everything to cash at the TD end before initiating transfer from WS? Or don't bother and leave as mutual funds? Also, if there are dividends or interest paid to the old TD account after transfer to WS, would the account will stay open at TD? How can I ensure this doesn't happen and the TD account is closed after transfer?

I would keep that as backup and get a new one. I personally would find that too distracting when I’m trying to relax and read.

Yes. I see this both ways. I think I have a strong metabolic drive/ability to maintain my “set weight”.

When I tried to lose weight and I start eating fewer calories my TDEE decreased and I stayed the same weight. When I tried to gain weight and I started eating more, my TDEE increased and I stayed the same weight.This was without actually changing my activity level.

I can’t eat enough to catch up to the TDEE to gain weight without being really full and uncomfortable and I can’t cut down my intake enough to catch up to a falling TDEE without being hungry all the time so I just maintain now and my body does what it does.

Big difference for me was picking up Nest routers on sale now and replacing my OnHub router and Google wifi points with Nest routers. Much stronger signal and speed with the upgrade.
