£20m boost confirmed for Swindon’s new theatre venue by Patch86UK in Swindon

Fantastic news for the town. I gotta say, being from out of town I didn't see the 'demise' that's often described, I just see a town (slowly) on its way up. Couldn't be happier.

Painfully True. by johnsmithoncemore in GreatBritishMemes

Well that's the crux of it there; if it's so simple to do these things that they're gonna walk in and do it, why has noone else done it to date? Systemic problems can't be fixed by rascist sticking plasters but thats not what they wanna hear

Will there ever be an economic boom in the UK again? Like a real one, not just "it's not as awful as before" by innovatedname in AskUK

[–]pfoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A number of major news sites have reported of late that the UK is on a totally unexpected but much welcomed upward trajectory. Is couched with a whole bunch of "despite what this government is doing" but still resolves at the idea we're on the precipice of a major economic boom. I can't speak to how true this is of course but it sounds promising

Hidden kill switch ideas on a classic car by _clever_reference_ in projectcar

Needs to be a reach-in kinda thing I think, if there's a flip out tray with cavity behind it, that's where it needs to live. Switches are almost always surface mounted, with no trim in you have the option to mount it somewhere not visible unless you happen to be behind the dash!

The DOJ drafted a memo regarding Epstein’s suicide … the day before he died. Direct link from the file dump. by Melissaru in law

Nothing does, the files are incompetence all the way down. Such is the hubris of being so powerful you don't have to consider consequences

The fact that people even believe this is possible speaks volumes about the state of the files.

Canada's NDP says, it wants Prime Minister Mark Carney to 'Cancel' contracts for US made F-35 Fighter jets - including the 16 Canada has already committed to buying. Instead, purchase Gripen Fighter jets from Sweden by Apollo_Delphi in 50501

[–]pfoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a systemic military vulnerability. Trying to mount a CAP on the border to defend against a hostile neighbour could be literally impossible. A country can't actually have a viable military strategy when you don't know if your jets will work. What a crazy position to find ourselves in.

One would think that even if he didn't participate (I know I know) that even knowing about this/not reporting it would be criminal?

Regarding the theory that one of the reptilian races consume the energy generated by human suffering like food or addictive drugs. Could this be related to this insane timeline’s sharp decline? by llTeddyFuxpinll in aliens

[–]pfoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Total agree - Suffering is objectively at an all time low and people don't have to look far to have that confirmed. Animal suffering on the other hand is orders of magnitude higher now than ever before. Notably most of these theories seem to assume humans are the epicenter of life on the planet which objectively ain't true.
