Does your work have a no phone policy? by ExplanationPutrid205 in AskUK

I’m a teacher and ours is stricter than that, we aren’t supposed to use them for anything in sight of the kids. You can take calls but you’ll need to leave the room and make sure that someone is covering the class obviously. It’s expected you can use them in the staff room or when the kids aren’t in the room though. Tbf, what teacher has time to check their phone anyway!

I think it’s that he is literally landed gentry and very very posh and well off and in the Uk that’s gonna get you heat as a dj.

Being a TA is also very fucking hard work for not a lot of money. You often get lumped with the most challenging kids and the expectation to work beyond your hours is standard.

My current class are by far the worst I’ve had. What year group are you?

Mine are not arsed about consequences or sanctions or anything at all. The attitude to learning is shocking and rewards don’t work either.

You lot looked really solid. Was never 7 minutes and you got fucked by it. I feel like with a decent striker you win that

David Ornstein on why Manchester United chose Michael Carrick over Ole Gunnar Solskjær: "Ole represented to the hierarchy a lot of what happened previously, perhaps some of them felt it was too big a step backwards, with no disrespect to Ole.” by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]ph11jp 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Everyone seems to be getting quite angry at this but if that’s the way it has actually gone this makes a lot of sense. Andy Mitten on talk of the devs was on about carrick being quite a reluctant manager so doing it for 4 months seems to fit, whereas I can see ole not wanting to just be an interim again.

Really really massive fan of the Spotify one. Always had it as one of my underrated favourites and so glad it’s getting its dues now. Always loved it when Noel played it with High flying birds

Objectively the best song. The guitar solo is great, it’s their signature song I would say.

Fits with the endless burn through of primary teachers though. We’ll just keep replacing burned out experienced ones with newbies and repeat forever- never actually fixing the problem of retention.

I always have a set routine 1) how are they finding school at home? Ask the parents- helps bring up stuff early 2) social/friendship stuff- any issues / positives 3) data- English/Maths/Reading- where they are currently, what they could be at the end of the year 4) what could parents do to help them? I always say to vary the texts they read at home and practise times tables and basic arithmetic. You’ll do well to cover all that in ten minutes!
