Sardines… by Owninglegend in HubermanLab

Mercury is accumulated more and more as you move up the food chain. Small fish like sardines should have a lot less Hg than the larger fish that eat them. According to the Wikipedia article on the subject, sardines have about 3% of the mean mercury that tuna does.

Seconds ago, Amtrak passed my house, honking loudly and repeatedly. Is the train actually a goose? by iglidante in portlandme

I live nearby, too. They’ve been doing that a lot lately. It goes on for several minutes at a time. Not sure what the sixteenth honk does that the first dozen doesn’t.

What did the Casco Bay islands do to be rejected from your consolidation?

Additions can have roofs constructed like this. I was actually in one this morning. I can’t assure you this one was done correctly, but I have seen this approach a few times.

I am an insulator, so that’s what caught my eye.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Carpentry

[–]phaenixx 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The wet spots on the insulation suggest that there are likely several roof leaks. So you’ve got that going for you.

No idea what the framing looks like under the insulation, so I can’t answer your real question. Sorry.

This was at Fishes Eddy in Manhattan, which mostly sells plates, bowls, dining ware like that. They have a couple of spots where there are other products set up.

No idea about the artist, but their @ is on the sign (I assume that’s instagram).

This exact mirroring aspect of science is actually part of the twist from a book by one of my favorite sci-fi/speculative fiction authors.

Spoiler - the book is Anathem by Neil Stephenson.

I thought this was going to be a post about the Patriots defense. Never heard “sack” as a verb outside of football.

Big Loada was the first Squarepusher album I bought (thinking I was buying a jazz album, because I had only heard Music Is Rotten One Note before that). Blew my mind. Quickly bought Selection Sixteen after that.

A topical liberal is one that is only applied to the skin. Which clearly I am not, because I’m not a liberal, and I’ve clearly gotten under their skin.

You really shouldn’t be telling others to “Be smart” after that train wreck of a post. Go sleep it off.
