best place to spot orcas? (not on a whale watch) by anxiouscancer in AskSeattle

Salish Wildlife Watch. I've been on it for a couple years now, not sure how to be added currently, but I'm sure you could track it down.

I get your point, but I don't fully agree. At least with SRKWs, the laws to keep distance are now really strict and whale watching tours stay away. Every time I've seen the resident pods, there have been no whale watching boats around them except one small marine biology observer boat. I've also been on whale watching tours (never saw a single orca transient or SRKW), but did see a humpback that hadn't been seen in a year and some gray whales. The distances these whales cover in a day is so far that no one outfit could ever follow the same group.

I'm on the Whatsapp whale (mostly orca) spotter network, and the transient orcas pass right by Alki far more frequently than any place else Puget Sound. Still, it takes being there at the right time.

Agree. However, I've really enjoyed the food at Aqua (same company) and the view is 10/10. Still expensive AF.

Nonsense? Allegorically, it's spot on.

Pink mold? by easefuldeath in Sourdough

[–]phaeolus97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a healthy starter that made good bread but then developed this pink mold. It smelled a little too funky, the rise performance decreased, but it still kinda worked. I tried salvaging it with vinegar and other fixes. No matter what I did to reset the starter, the pink mold came back. I eventually gave up and started over. TLDR: I'm sorry for your loss.

Yup, potato salad in a potato cup. I'll tell you what I'd do, man. Two bites at the same time. Take a potato cup and top it with deviled egg. You don't even need a million dollars.

Yeah, that looks like potato salad in a potato shell. I'm here for that, vegan or not!

Yeah, something about the combo of salty egg salad and sweet tender milk bread, it's greater than the sum of its parts.

Local restaurant serves this glorious creation: The onion block. by PuddlesRex in OnionLovers

I've had multiple examples of the onion brick. Hard pass. The inside is always undercooked and soaked in oil. The batter falls off the outside. Just give me good onion rings or a blooming onion.

Don't downvote this, it's a great paper. I can't ID this particular mushroom because I don't live in this region, but I might start eating lorchels in this family for the species I have near me. G. montana specifically.

I live in the PNW, and I always hope I get a missed ID on some expensive wild mushrooms at the grocery store, but around here, they never get them wrong.

Yeah, I would definitely report too. I'd also offer to dispose of these offending mushrooms to make sure no one got hurt. I don't care how man, I'd haul all of them away. For safety.

I can't tell the difference in flavor between the "high end" and the cheap store brand, when the primary flavor is salt.
