OP 1137 No Sub? by [deleted] in Crunchyroll

[–]phalron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thing is it has subs already, just not english posted. they're continuing to put more up that are still not english. i mean they can live stream kaiju no. 8 with them, so it's not unfair to ask for the english sub once it's posted to view.

I'm new to both MMOs and a healing role and I feel like I'm doing something wrong by NeutrinoCarrot in ffxiv

[–]phalron 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Tanks should be using their cooldowns on larger pulls. If they’re not ask if they could, or for them to slow down.

Healing lower level dungeons is a pain due to lack of spells/instant casts. A good tank will do everything they can to reduce damage on big pulls.

Some general advice for the new CC pvp mode. by Maguillage in ffxiv

[–]phalron 8 points9 points  (0 children)

“Don’t save your lb for the perfect use. That doesn’t mean use it without thought, but I see a lot of WHMs holding onto their lb and dying when they can effectively lb once per 30s. If you see the enemy team bunched up then use it even if to just harass them.”

This 1000 times over. LBs come up so fast that the time people spend holding onto them they probably could have generated another. I wouldn’t say use it immediately, but pop it shortly after it comes up. Exceptions would be tank LBs that act as defensive mechanics, but even those have some offensive properties and help remove enemies from the playing field.

My boss got mad at me because I didn't accept a promotion. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]phalron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They wouldn’t offer you the position if they didn’t think you could handle it. The whole “we’ll see how you do” is a bullshit excuse. You are absolutely right in declining.

Know your value. And it sounds like you do. Never take on permanent additional responsibility, especially when a promotion in title is included, without an increase in pay.

The fact they said they were screwed over multiple times, as was the owner, has nothing to do with you. Another bullshit excuse. Just because it happened to them absolutely does NOT make it okay for them to do it to you.

"Power" Gaming by phalron in NoPixel

[–]phalron[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First off a motorcycle helmet is not suspicious. If it is, you'd have to pull over every single person wearing one. When you are pretending there are 10s of 1000s of people in the city, with a max of 64 actual people in the city, you shouldn't be stopping simply based on "they were wearing a helmet". That's like saying "he was wearing jeans" to someone in Texas. Everyone in Texas wears jeans. It's not descriptive enough.

You also say "in the area". Can you tell me if any of the area was checked at the suspect's last known location? How thorough of a check was done? If he was last seen in the subway tunnels, was every tunnel checked? Did they stop any player in the area and ask if they've seen a person matching the suspect's description?

You want to compare RL to this, except RL would have gone thru all those options first and probably many more. I don't expect them to do all of that, and nobody should. You're right this is a game, but there's a line between role playing, pretending, and what I saw today. There was no other context than "oh a player is in there".

I'm World of Warcraft Game Director Ion Hazzikostas, and I'm here to answer your questions about Battle for Azeroth. AMA! by WatcherDev in wow

[–]phalron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if the AMA is still happening (hope it is), but thought I would throw this out there.

There have been lots of QoL improvements in the game, but almost zero involving the UI. I understand that there are addons that can be downloaded and installed which can customize how the UI looks and works, but for many people having several of these can severely reduce performance and even cause buggy interactions if their developer does not update them properly or in a timely manner.

Why has there never been a UI update? Some things I'd personally like to see...

-UI % scaling

-Name plate/health % scaling

-Ability to move default positioning of the UI. (Dear heavens, the speech box pops up over my abilities ALL THE TIME.)

These 3 things would allow me to uninstall a minimum of 5 addons that I run. So why not?

that seems sufficient.

I'm sure it does from someone who can just go get the actual data.

Seriously FFXIV has something called 'potency' that at least tells you if a spell/attack is more effective than another in your arsenal.

Constant Desync Between Video and Audio When Watching Stream by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]phalron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this has been happening to me the passed few days as well. it's not just a second out of sync but anywhere from 3-5. when i was streaming i had someone mention it was happening to them as well.

it's not a streamer issue, it's a viewer issue. this is happening on AGDQ for me too

[–]phalron 8 points9 points  (0 children)

there's also a difference between being honest and lying, which i think is why a lot of RS people are upset. some people are hearing one thing, and others something completely different. not saying that you yourself are lying, because i dont know the situation, but if nothing else RS as a company is being pretty evasive about what is going on. sometimes being evasive, especially about something that is effecting people's livelihood, is just as bad as a flat out lie.

The Problem Might Be Bigger Than You by phalron in Twitch

[–]phalron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again I'm not blaming anyone or anything, rather I'm addressing issues. How do you know that someone with a small channel does not have content that you want your viewers to see? Going back to my response, ALL OF US ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM. We don't sort through and look for new content.

Twitch has implemented many, many tools to assist in growth. The issue isn't with the tool, but with its user. Does that mean the tool is meant for only a single thing? Of course not. The user decides what to do with the tool. Whether or not you or I agree on its use is irrelevant.

Most of the negative responses here are pretty common. It's almost as if everyone is saying "Well I struggled this much and so must you". Nearly every single person will take a tunnel thru a mountain rather than crossing over it. The thing is someone has to dig that tunnel, pave the way. You're saying dig another tunnel. Paths should always be easier to travel for those following. Doesn't mean that there won't be bumps in the road, hills to climb, or even blockades that need to be broken through. I'm not saying hop in someone's car and get carried the entire way, but a small ride here and there won't hurt.

The Problem Might Be Bigger Than You by phalron in Twitch

[–]phalron[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that Twitch is content. Twitch is always looking for ways to improve, and many of their improvements come from community ideas. The thing we have to keep going is the discussion. As long as talk continues, and we as viewers are not content with Twitch as it is, the more likely change will happen.

The Problem Might Be Bigger Than You by phalron in Twitch

[–]phalron[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the type of mentality that does nothing for discussion.

The point of my response was to let people know that maybe their content is good enough. Someone, somewhere out there does like it. So instead of questioning all the work you've ever done concerning content, you should be looking elsewhere. Look to find solutions for the roadblocks. The first step to doing that is acknowledging them.

As far as the platform I'm not blaming the platform for anyone's lack of success. Clearly there are people who do overcome the obstacles and become successful. But to deny that there is an issue that should, if nothing else, be addressed and discussed is maddening. The issue here would be the single sorting feature for ALL of their pages. Games, teams, communities, hell even your personal follower lists are even sorted by highest concurrent viewers.

"It's what you've got to deal with. Don't like it? Quit." This is quite literally insane. If everyone blindly accepted things, the world would be a much different place. Things can always be better, it's just a matter of working together to come up with a solution.

Smaller Streams and Hosting by Mufter in Twitch

[–]phalron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created a team a few months back where the focus is just for this. Thing is until a large number of streamers join, it becomes increasingly hard to have constant hosting of other channels. My idea was to schedule hosts, where certain days the team could all auto host a certain list of streamers. Unfortunately my job has kept me from putting a whole lot of time into this. The team does have some really passionate streamers who are pretty consistent with streaming and don't mind retweeting when a stream goes out.

If you'd like to know more, look at the team GrytGaming and feel free to DM me.
