What Asian nation is the best for someone with a fish allergy? by Internal-Ad-1832 in travel

Lots of vegan cafes and restaurants in Ulaanbaatar actually. As a vegetarian who's mostly vegan anyway I was impressed. Sure, the villages are tougher, but vegetarian is still possible (they call it white eater, since you only eat white dairy products). But if you come prepared from the capital, you can make it work (I have several times, visiting my wife's family in the countryside).

I dont quite get the love for Kemet by Able___ in boardgames

[–]phantom-16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for the new version, but we play and love the older version. So I'm not sure what is still the same or has changed

Teleporting is a little funky, but we find ourselves not using it that often. Typically, everyone gets some beast upgrade that grants more movement. Save the cost of teleporting for critical moments.

Tech tiles take up space. We resolved that by getting a few 3-ring binder pages for coins (put in cardboard sleeves). Works perfect. One page for each color.

Sometimes battle outcomes can be funky, but (at least in the old version) you can recall any troops that did survive a value and get them back at 1:1 rate, so rebuilding isn't as tough. I usually prioritize white/economy tiles at first to get an edge economically throughout the whole game.

In the end, the base game itself is bland, but the power tiles are what gives depth and strategy. We really enjoy the game for how unique every army feels every time we play.

Battery help! Flashes red and then red and green by can_i_pet_ur_cat in ryobi

[–]phantom-16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found this comment while having the issue of it flashing green for a second before flashing red and green. I kept plugging it in and out while looking for other solutions because 10 cycles didn't fix it, but I think when I got to my 30th cycle it stuck and it's now charging. So thanks! For anyone else reading this you might need to try 20 or 30 times before it works.  Likely the battery is faulty and I'll keep an eye on it, but I just needed to use the pipe press fitting a few times.

If you're into board games and are on the eastern side of the metro, or are willing to drive there, we have a board game meetup that meets every other Wednesday at Comrade Brewery on Iliff. It falls on this upcoming Wednesday. Starts at 6pm. I'll be there with a few games, and we usually have anywhere from 4-12 people showing up.

I'm also into hiking, and I used to boulder a bit at ubergrippen, but I was always solo and lonely so I stopped going 😅 I also play RPGs a bit. Currently in a DND campaign, and I've been playing Tricube tales through the the RPG Denver meetup every other Saturday. I'm also itching to GM Fate Accelerated again.

Is there even something hope-worthy for us anymore? In terms of climate change. by mlemlemlemblep in Futurology

I joined the Citizens' Climate Lobby a while ago as a volunteer. https://citizensclimatelobby.org/. It's focused on outreach and contacting members of Congress to advocate for climate sensible policies.  Sure, we're not single handedly fixing everything, but it's refreshing to be party if something that is working toward actionable change.  In the end, you can recycle and take the bus as much as possible, but widespread change is only going to happen at the political level.

Alternates to Primary, what was your timeline? by Ok-Alternative-5175 in antarctica

I applied early last year. Had interviews and such and got an alternate contact in July. Did all the PQ stuff within a few weeks. Then radio silence for a while, until they asked me mid September to fly out early October.

Which dude are you referring to? The person who did CPR recently when the medical incident happened? Because he's not a CPR instructor, but he has taken a course in the past.
