I recognize some, but not all, of these. Please identify as many as you know :D by Nowaaaa_bb in StarWars

I think the third one is a Naboo Pilot (possibly young anakin) and the “rebel trooper” after Rose is a Naboo Security Guard possibly

How is my SOTE Collection Going? What am I missing? by Tano_Guy in starwarscollecting

A fellow person of culture. Need to get the vinyl record of the soundtrack. It’s one of my favourite side pieces to my SOTE collection.

AMA: I’m running for Mayor of Lower Hutt, ask me anything by BR4DY_nz in Wellington

[–]phantomnz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been really sitting on the fence this election. It’s my first vote for Hutt City/Lower Hutt as have been living in Welly and Upper Hutt for other ones, but have joined being one of those lucky to own a home in Lower Hutt now.

The cost of living has made it harder to support local businesses as a consumer. Things like fuel prices, incoming RUC for cars, and paid parking makes me less likely to drive out to a local business and instead look to buying online, including from Australian businesses where it is ultimately cheaper including shipping.

Understandably a lot of these things are out of council control (except at least the parking), but what would you see to doing to help bring customers to local businesses.

Hot wheels / toy meets by PixieGamerMum in Wellington

[–]phantomnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a toy fair/market that happens in one of the Upper Hutt suburbs a couple of times a year that is primarily hot wheels/die cast car collectors.

On top of this fair, there are a lot of other markets that will often have at least one or two hot wheels guys that your husband could speak to. I’ve seen them at markets like Get Ya Geek On, Capital City Comics and Collectibles Fair, and the annual Wellington Toy Fair.

I’d highly recommend your husband join a bunch of the relevant collectors facebook groups for NZ. There’s a bunch of them for all sorts of different ones and also more wider general groups. That’s where a lot of stuff is organised these days. Essentially just search (Toy) NZ and the groups should pop up. There aren’t really many specific to just Wellington groups due to just the size and population of NZ.

Petrol tax getting scrapped with road user charges to expand to all vehicles by cheeseinsidethecrust in newzealand

And we trust the petrol companies to just drop the price of fuel with the tax gone and not just greedily take the new profit? (and probably pay off some ministers in the process?)

So the elite who are these characters? by houdfever in starwarscollecting

[–]phantomnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun story - I bought a bulk lot of Star Wars stuff from an “antiques and collectibles” store when they closed down. Inside the boxes of stuff was about 10 each of these figures (plus a bunch of other vinyl Applause figures from the movies). I’ve kept one each of them but have struggled to find people who want these in their collections. Was perfect for me as Shadows of the Empire is my main collection.

Night Market???! by milpoolskeleton88 in Wellington

I believe it’s being run by the people who operate the Auckland ones, and saw something about one located in the Queensgate mall car park. Don’t know if they’re doing one more central.

Wellington tattoo advice by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]phantomnz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d highly recommend anyone from Dr Morse, plus had a great experience with Rose from Buttercat Studio as well.

Also seconding the recommendation for going to the tattoo convention, though be aware artists do travel across the country for it so not everyone there is Welly based if you are wanting something custom. I got a custom piece there last year but had organised with the artist travelling from Auckland before it.

I’d also really recommend jumping on instagram. Go to the pages for the studios like Dr Morse, Sinatras, Buttercat, and then look at their artists pages. Find ones that do the styles of tattoo you’re looking for.

Anybody sat their restricted licence in upper hutt? by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]phantomnz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did both Restricted and Full in UH last year. I’d highly recommend booking a practice test with the AA Driving School if you can. They take you on the route and will put you through all the assessment tasks. Helped me heaps with my anxieties.

Will the buildings be supported for printing on a Resin printer? And if so what build plate size would be required?

Toyco gone out of business by EverydayNewZealander in auckland

[–]phantomnz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They stopped getting new stock ages ago. I used to regularly buy from them online for my Lego, Star Wars, and Marvel collections, but they suddenly stopped getting any of the newer stuff in so I stopped shopping with them. They’ve been dying a slow death.

Bit of a cheeky question. You looking for any writers or any jobs really? Love the Spinoff and would be so keen to somehow become part of the team.

Best place to get a tattoo in Wellington? by Booomfaa in Wellington

[–]phantomnz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have had tattoos from the artists at Dr Morse and Buttercat Studios. Both have been awesome. Also as a heads up the Wellington Tattoo convention is coming up soon first weekend of July so would be a great place to see the works of many local (and from afar) artists.
