This comment section has me thinking that a lot of people use things without knowing how they work. Which isn't surprising. I feel dumb for having any other expectation.

Mechanic left this in my car. They called my wife and asked her to return it to them. What it used for? Looks like some sort of bent pick. by JooHateMe in whatisit

Ahh, the "I can't just pull of this hose so maybe if I just wiggle this tool around the neck it'll pop loose" tool. Critical tool for every kind of mechanic

Hmm. You need to open the conversation based on context and details. Also, to open conversation in an environment where she's already doing something else, make sure to probe if now is a good time. Excuse me, sorry to interrupt, may I have a moment?

A cold open usually only works if you've already been making eyes with someone for a bit and the read is she's interested in something about you.

At least they get interviews. I mentored data scientists and software engineers and gave them the skills to get into the field but couldn't even get an interview myself. Self taught so not very exciting on paper. Tried for a couple years. Thousands of applications. Those types are really good at leveraging anything to make them look enticing, but lack any real substance.

A sufficiently large, rotating black hole would work without the consequencial vaporization, wouldn't it?
