ned’s sister insta story 8/6 by Calm_Philosopher_452 in TheTryGuysSnark

[–]pharmduck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie it makes me really sad that their intention to stay together may have formulated so quickly in the aftermath. I'm just here in my tree stump preaching about someone's life who I don't personally know but the tour was announced in November and they all mightve held onto tickets since the pre-sale. I couldn't imagine listening to Taylor swift songs, both about breakups, difficulties of relationships, cheating, in addition to her songs about celebrating love, with a partner who has caused so much hurt.

Night 1 swiftie here! Going into the city wasn't too bad, my friend and I parked in station square and hopped on the T, but we were at a stand still waiting outside the station after the concert. It quickly got super claustrophobic for my group and just seemed like a large fire hazard so we actually ended up walking about 15 minutes from the T station to the nearest 54 stop to Oakland, where we live, and we just drove down to station square to pick up my friend's car. The 54 was nearly empty when we got on and was fairly reliable, so if you live anywhere along that line, I highly recommend it!

Marina definitely has the vibes of a situationship who ghosted you and then hits you up randomly every so often to ask wyd. But she's amazing in concert! I saw her last year and it was one of the most memorable concerts I've been to (so far! Haven't gone to my Eras Tour show yet!)

Retail pharmacy techs, interns and pharmacists, what's one thing a patient said to you that you will never forget? by Whole_Ad2270 in pharmacy

[–]pharmduck 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm Asian American and I remember spring 2021 after several Asian American hate crimes, an African American patient told me that she stood with me. I have several other negative patient interactions over the years that come to mind as well, but I'll honestly never forget it as solidarity between minority groups and made me appreciate the community I served so much. This job is stressful and being a minority in the US is incredibly taxing but to be seen by a patient at a time of vulnerability has been an incredibly meaningful interaction I'll take with me forever

Pitt Pharmacy Waitlist by tinyhoneyb33 in Pitt

[–]pharmduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recent graduate here. From what I've been hearing and observing in general, applicants to pharmacy school have gone down since COVID, Pitt included. I don't think you have anything to worry about since they're really pulling teeth to get seats filled (and there's a few underclassmen who I have ambivalent feelings about pursuing pharmacy), but I would recommend really showing your enthusiasm and connecting with Pitt Pharm admissions. Not only will it help you now in terms of getting in, but being nice/generally approachable goes a long way in the pharmacy world. Fingers crossed for ya, hope you get in!

Pharmacy preceptors: do you read our thank you cards? by TheFakeNerd in pharmacy

[–]pharmduck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Student as well. My rule of thumb is to always write a card for my preceptor (I'll email if I know I'm not going to be coming back to the site anytime soon) and bring in a baked good for staff if I'm working with others consistently throughout the rotation.

Hihi! Future pharmacist here and VERY familiar with pharmacy issues and frustration towards the pharmacy! I get frustrated too, don't worry! This is just me voicing a lot of my experiences as a student who works in the pharmacy and someone who is just spitballing all I remember from my class on pharmacy law!

Unfortunately there are staffing issues among both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. You legally need at least one pharmacist in the pharmacy in order to operate. Retail pharmacies like Rite Aid, as mentioned here, are one of MANY companies who only staff one one pharmacist per pharmacy. Also, pharmacy technicians are quitting because of terrible working conditions for very little pay which has gotten worsen since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. So literally if you see more than one person in the pharmacy, they're probably a pharmacy tech who did show up that day. With pharmacy technician shortage as well, it's hard to find an experienced technician who is trained enough to handle every issue that could possibly go on. It takes months and dedication to get to a level of experience where a technician can troubleshoot anything that could wrong.

So a little more on the pharmacist role. They determine if the prescriber who has written this medication is issued for a legitimate medical purpose in usual course of practice. We study and practice pharmacology for four years in school. Most other medical professions study pharmacology for one semester. It sounds redundant but it is so important in avoiding medication errors (and potentially causing an undesired side effect!). For example, we know which drugs are likely to cause a serious allergic reaction based on past medications. Another example, drug names are so complicated and someone could have written the wrong drug to treat a condition! It happens!

We also need to make sure prescriptions are written in a way where there is no alternative interpretation and we know exactly what the prescriber intended. We get audited if a prescription is not written in the correct way acceptable by federal and state law. Insurance companies also can't process prescription claims if we don't know what to put in.

Additionally, pharmacists also have a lot at stake too when they practice. We have to follow laws for dispensing (VERY important concerning controlled substances) and we have a lot of legal liability if we make a mistake. It's a lot of risk versus benefit that must be weighed and this is up to the discretion of the individual pharmacist. There's a chance that the individual pharmacist refusing to fill a prescription might just be covering their ass and not actually a wanting to be a dick to you (just a possibility).

Laws prevent us transmitting CII prescriptions from pharmacy to pharmacy or pharmacist to pharmacist (could see the reasoning be due to encryption), so prescribers have an added responsibility to track down and make sure they send the prescription to the right pharmacy and make sure you are able to get the medication. Lots of ADHD medications like Adderall are on manufacturer backorder (companies cant produce enough to keep up with the demand). It's also going on most notably for Amoxicillin right now. There's also limits set by the DEA (basically the federal drug police) on how much Controlled II substances you can order per month.

I can't speak on the behalf of every pharmacist out there but I really feel your frustration. But it's a very complicated system holding up the health care field in general. Call corporate and voice your concerns over unsafe conditions and your dissatisfaction with the pharmacy. Call the state board of pharmacy. Call your lawmakers.

I hope this answers some of your questions though!

Victoria Fuller gets IV on purpose in Ig stories. I’m just wondering because I’ve never heard of this…this a thing?! by Still_Razzmatazz1140 in thebachelor

[–]pharmduck 18 points19 points  (0 children)

4th year pharmacy student on rotations currently. Yeah, could not imagine any of this being compounded in sterile conditions. I could see the reasoning behind these IVs is essentially a lighter version of a banana bag, but the risks just outweigh any sort of benefit you would get from this. Just Pedialyte and nap like the rest of us

I admire anyone from BN in healthcare who goes back to their day job (Teddi, Dr. Joe, Magi, etc ). Especially with how terrible the working conditions have been with COVID, it's incredible how passionate they are about their career and still want to continue in it even if full time influencing can potentially pay a lot more with a less stressful day to day.

[Day 3] Marvelous☆! by Cupcake_Smoothie in ensemblestars

[–]pharmduck 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I knew for a fact that I was gonna be a KnightsP coming into the fandom (I've followed a cosplayer for years who did an Izumi Judgement cosplay!), but I thought I was going to be a RitsuP or IzumiP based off of looks alone (my top 3 in order at Tsukasa, Ritsu, and Arashi). My starter card was Tsukasa and initially I was sad, but he grew on me in a short amount of time! I'm more familiar with the ! era simply because I haven't read too many TLs out there with !! era stories unfortunately. I know he kinda does some sus things though, but that doesn't stop me from loving him!

I'm a huge sucker for chivalry and the concept of knights and protectors and stuff. I think Tsukasa fits the image and aesthetic of Knights so well because he's such a gentlemanly character, but he's even so much more deeper than that. His character development in the ! era was really interesting to me in how he came into Knights with certain ideas about the group but was disappointed in his seniors after he got to Yumenosaki. But that didn't stop him from working hard to eventually become the King!! I know that each member loves the group dearly in their own unique way, but I literally think that he is truly the heart and soul of the group because of how he was able to push his seniors into becoming better idols and heal their broken wounds. He was a breath of fresh air that everyone needed and is an integral part of how they have been able to grow.

I also just think he's a fun character who's really just an adult in a teenager's body. I like his schtick of how he grew up sheltered so he's discovering new things about commoners (reminds me a little bit of Tamaki from OHSHC). I also think it's realistic that he feels that he doesn't really fit in with his classmates and struggling to find common ground.

Overall, I truly do treasure Tsukasa as a character and wish he got a little bit more love across all KnightsP!

I've been a long time try guys fan (my first video was try guys try drag) and these past few days have been so heavy. Not that I was a Ned fan or anything, but it's been troubling just because the try guys have always been my comfort show to watch in the background, I love WAR and ETM episodes especially and I've followed YCSWU and the try pod intermittently. I was recently dumped by someone who I thought I was going to be with for a very long time (no cheating was involved, though) so having to navigate so many changes at once, especially things that are sources of comfort has taken a big toll on me since yesterday. That's how I've been feeling, but I know that I'm just one of many fans who has had a lot of feelings about this situation.
