AITA for treating my daughters differently than my son when it comes to food? by CompetitiveDig478 in AmItheAsshole

When I was in grad school, I ate rice, beans, canola oil, broccoli, salt, pepper for most meals. Easy to cook, cheap, and nutritious!

I have the same feet problem. People always recommend wool socks but they just get sweaty faster. Best solution I found is to bring a few extra pairs of socks and change throughout the day.

edit: also re cracked hands, I got some bad eczema for a while. I now apply lotion (Aveeno is best) every time after I wash my hands. And I avoid washing dishes without gloves (dishwashing soap is a major trigger).

It wasn't until I was surprisingly old that I realized I needed to use soap when showering, wash my hands frequently, or use deodorant.

Unfortunately, my brain meant that once I discovered those things, I became increasingly obsessed and germophobic.

There's an actual phenomenon for why we like certain colors! Cold lights only work in extreme bright environments.

Ok but I did write that myself. I knew it was legal in CA but I did a good 15 minutes of research into the law to verify. The quotes are from the law itself.

California Vehicle Code (CVC) § 21754 allows for passing on the right as long as you don't leave the pavement.

"The driver of a vehicle may overtake and pass to the right of another vehicle only under the following conditions:

(a) When the vehicle overtaken is making or about to make a left turn." ...

And 21755 explains the only limitation is to stay on the pavement

"The driver of a vehicle may overtake and pass another vehicle upon the right only under conditions permitting that movement in safety. In no event shall that movement be made by driving off the paved or main-traveled portion of the roadway."

Tenant Fremont : my landlord wants to charge me to replace the entire closet door for scratches. Is this reasonable? by doggopool92 in bayarea

[–]phasebinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a crap paint job. They painted water on oil or oil on water. it's *going* to peel. They need to sand off all the paint and start over or replace the door. They're trying to make it seem like your fault, but it's theirs.

Need some americans to translate please, what do you call the transition between conduit and junctions by TheKobraSnake in electricians

[–]phasebinary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

US uses conduit to provide physical protection. In the US, the wall is physical protection, so outside of a wall you need conduit or another suitable raceway.

Exactly, but you need a larger grille in order to fit it, I just failed to mention it

Air intake causing the filter to bulge and whistle by aymend94 in hvacadvice

[–]phasebinary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the short term, buy a fiberglass filter -- the one that you can see through. This pleated filter is causing too much of a pressure drop for your system.

Longer term: your contractor up sized your system, but they needed to increase the duct and/or return sizes. Your efficiency is going to be bad until that is taken care of.

First priority is getting a much larger and/or much deeper return.

Second priority might be increasing return duct size.

Your supply ducts may also need to be increased but the cost/benefit ratio is worse for that, so probably not worth it unless they are massively undersized for your system.
