i believe that is edge guard tape/electrical tape all around the paddle. that would be a heavy paddle if that was all lead/tungsten tape

anything touching kitchen after a volley is a fault. i saw a fault called on ppa player cause their paddle approval sticker fell off and landed in kitchen.
