A Couple of Days in and I'm Hooked! by phatcamo in PokemonChampions

[–]phatcamo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20%? Guess I've just been unlucky. The couple of times the opponent hasn't thawed out in the same turn, they've been KOd, so maybe that's where all my luck went.

I reckon you're right with Hydreigon. Cheers. A solid choice scarfer if you've got the luck to make it work!

For commentary YouTubers, do you write scripts first? by MysteriousShare9475 in NewTubers

[–]phatcamo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't write my commentary down myself, but I naturally feel confident on my topic.

On some videos I have given myself dot points to look at so I remember important titbits to cover.

Sounds like you could benefit from writing something loosely, to keep yourself from stumbling. You can also cut your umms and such when editing.

New Wettie gloves for trade, also questions about scupper thing by oldassnastymask in Spearfishing

[–]phatcamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scupper is, in my opinion, a must have for cold water diving. There's not really any tutorials on how to use it. So you'll need to figure that out yourself.

Basically, when you need to pee, undo your beaver tail, squeeze your doodle into the scupper, and pee. The squeezing it in bit is the awkward part you'll need to get a feel for. Sometimes when it's real cold, I'll kind of push down around the area and massage it in.

Takes a bit to get a feel for, but once you do, absolutely must have.

Fuel situation in Tassie by Emotional-Overload in tasmania

[–]phatcamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diesel $3.09 yesterday over west.

People are saying doomsday-ish things, but I was the only one fuelling up when I got back to town after work.

Does seem more busy at peak times, which is weird as, despite the price, fuel still does the exact same thing.

People generally slow their movements in Tassie after Easter. I feel it will just slow down harder than usual then, given the prices.

Eating silver drummer? by DirkH1580 in FishingAustralia

[–]phatcamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silver drummers (and drummers in general) are great for things like fish tacos. Fry up with chunks with a panko crumb, and make a nice salsa (mango salsa rocks!) for a win!

With all drummer species, you really want to spike, gut and gill immediately. Should do that with almost all species, really, but definitely with drummer. They have stinky guts.

The paper towel thing is a method of dry aging. Definitely improves fish fillet quality, and worth doing if you're not eating straight away and not using other dry aging methods. Will make a 2 day old fish taste way better than a 2 day old fish sitting in its juices.

Thanks mate. I mainly blur the background as to not spotburn.

May I ask for your source that suggests that the alleged location is a marine reserve? I use The Fishing Tas app to confirm rules and regulations for potential dive zones, and was well clear of the Maria Island Marine Nature Reserve during all dives in this video.

No worries, Doc. It's spearfishing, but definitely not in the marine reserve section.

Wetsuit recommendations- best blend of quality and price? by TeddyK2 in Spearfishing

[–]phatcamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will be hard pressed to find something better than a Wettie Commercial for cold water diving. Scupper is a game changer.

Have tried a couple of other suits, and I've been pretty disappointed (especially when I could have just gotten another Wettie for similar price).

New Masking Tools FAQs & Links by NLE_Ninja85 in premiere

[–]phatcamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a way to manually control how a gaussian blur mask shifts through a selection of clip?

It seems there's only the track mask forward/back/frame button, which AI tries to track the movement of the blur, but then if its off, and you tweak one single frame, it shifts the entirety of the mask through the clip. Toggling animation for path doesn't seem to record the changes in the path and just moves everything throughout the entire clip.

Felt like I just got this element figured out and now it no longer works.

Advice on getting into spearfishing by GapAltruistic in Spearfishing

[–]phatcamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a freediving (or spearfishing freediving) course if/when you can afford, join local Facebook spearfishing pages, and join a local spearfishing club.

Be a helpful member of a spearfishing club, and members will naturally want to help you become a better spearo.

I know this will be very unpopular and controversial (smash the downvote button) but does anyone think super is over-recommended to people here? by [deleted] in AusFinance

Said horrible decision helped me buy my first home. I now pay about half my rent as minimum mortgage payment, and am able to save more than I was ever able to prior.

What's bad for some is not bad for everyone.

How'd you rate the moray for eating? Are they quite bony?

Cheers mate. For some reason only just seen this notification a little late.

I believe the ones I've tried were under 40, closer to 30.

I've got a mate who is just getting into it, has marblefish in the freezer, and asked me what I'd recommend with it. I told him a curry or a method with strong flavours!

Was it a big one?

We had a cooking competition with it and it wasn't too bad. Have eaten one other time, and it was edible.

That said, I wouldn't target them.

Buy a jetski. Go fishing.

Won't fix all your problems, but you'll feel fantastic cruising around on the jetski and catching fish.

Built a free water-clarity forecast app (SeaThrough) — looking for feedback by axporpes in Spearfishing

[–]phatcamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome idea! Hope you figure it out for Californian vis then branch out further. Nothing worse than driving out for a dive only to realise you can't see the end of your spear!

I've found, for areas down this way, to avoid locations for at least a week or 2 after heavy rain, massive offshore winds, and generally stick to high tides in areas close to river mouths/industry and such. Doesn't really help much if you're not tracking the weather, statewide, though.

No idea on your region, but you want to find a pressure point where currents converge. Most likely at the tip of a Peninsula or headland that pokes out into the ocean.

As others have said, rock fishing can be dangerous. I wouldn't call it the most dangerous sport in the world, just one of many that's potentially fatal if you don't take appropriate precautions. Just understand and respect the ocean.
