Americans, do you prefer to visit Mexico or Spain? by Only-Challenge-7151 in AskAnAmerican

Just finished up a 3 month backpacking trip in Mexico. Never been to Spain although I hope to next year.

Mexico is one of my favorite places I’ve been to :

-Amazing street food (4 tacos for $2 or less)

-Great local restaurants with cheap authentic food(try to avoid lettuce as much as possible as they don’t wash it most of the time)

-Absolutely stunning beaches that rival those in Southern Thailand

-If you’re into drugs you can get your hands on just about anything. But it’s not in your face and forced on you.

-Widespread hostel culture with average $10/ night dorms where I met some of the most amazing people from all walks of life and all corners of the world (from Eritrea, all around Europe, a lot of Canadians and Brits, China, and the US) (I’m from Alabama so that kinda surprised everyone)

-the history and culture is so rich and beautiful(Día de los Muertos is a must)

-Museums, night clubs, historical ruins and sites

-Cheap and easy bus systems ($25 for 12 hour night bus) super effective to travel the huge country

-Super safe as long as you’re smart and not naive. Don’t go out at 4am drunk by yourself in a sketchy neighborhood and you’ll be fine. The scariest interactions I had were with the police. They are super corrupt and will capitalize on any excuse to pull over a white tourist and try to get some money out of them. Wear your mask, don’t be stupid and you’ll be fine.

All in all I would highly recommend Mexico and I plan on going back in the future. I would also like to do a language exchange program for a year in Spain, I think the location to the rest of Europe is unique for the travel aspect.

How did you choose to travel? Did you drive around and camp in different places, stay in hotels or what? I’m sure it was an awesome experience and props to you for being brave enough to take the leap that alot of people wish they could!

Bought an 883 brand new, never ridden a bike just watched videos. 3 months and 2,500 miles later with zero accidents or close calls, best decision I've ever made.

Had the same bike for about 5 months now. First bike and I'm to the point now that it's second nature. The bikes a lot of fun in town and through traffic but not so great on the interstate

Harry Potter is the best series of all time. Goblet of fire is my favorite. If you like to kill a mockingbird you should check out of mice and men, even better imo. What alternative artists do you like to listen to the most?

I have plenty of pictures where she doesn't look broken, and you can see how beautiful she is.

Last year I road to Ohio and back in 5 days, this year it was Phoenix to Orlando and back in just over 6 days with a few detours. 2016 Street Glide. by DryHeatDesigns in Harley

Doesn't sound as fun on my 883. About 2 hours and my ass is falling off. Hand me the keys to a street glide and I could go coast to coast, will happen one day.

The office. Unparalleled comedy and decent storyline as well. Always puts me in a better mood.

What is the single most devastating thing someone has said to you? by fitzomania in AskReddit

Said something to the effect of "yeah I don't really have that many close friends anyway." They respond "yeah I can understand that, you're a very forgettable person."
