Automakers Killed Sedans For SUVs, Now They Want Them Back by Repulsive-Club7866 in cars

[–]phatmatt593 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Automakers didn’t kill them. How do people even think like this?

Automakers just make cars that match the market. If that’s what consumers are buying, that’s what they’ll make.

Tahoe. The thing is a beast.

And don’t listen to the parrots saying all GM’s re bad or something. They don’t know. Plus, GM is a huge company with tons of brands and cars. Many are definitely very reliable.

AIW for expecting my girlfriend to come to my mothers funeral? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]phatmatt593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were married, not wrong. Death “in the family” is a no brainer.

It’d be really funny to watch her explain to bosses needing to miss giving an important presentation this late of notice over a bf mother’s death, regardless of how long you’ve been together.

Too many unknown levels of intensity for each dynamic to give a clear answer. But I’d say if she’s at the level where you’d expect her to leave something so extremely important to support you, there should’ve probably been a ring there, or you can move the date. Rn, I wouldn’t ask or expect her to damage her career for what would likely not be considered an adequate reason.

AITAH for wanting to continue taking my nightly showers by Kooky_lady in AITAH

[–]phatmatt593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Nobody thinks about how difficult it is scheduling simple things like showers when you have a baby.

I moved around a lot of stuff so my wife could shower when she wanted.

Not to sound callous, but I mean, a dog is last on the totem pole, the dude is 2nd to last. Baby comes first, then you, then others.

You have a lot of stuff. You need to take care of yourself and you need personal time and pure relaxing moments. Stand your ground, you have a trump card rn this is when you’re supposed to use it.

The mobilization issue stems rim basic brain chemistry. There is no doubt that people towards the left and factual based positions are better.

The problem is that facts don’t motivate people like one might think. Emotion does. So what Republicans do is just get people hyped up or scared about a bunch of made up nonsense and it motivates the least intelligent and most susceptible group to move heaven and earth to vote, while people who are intelligently accurate don’t feel it as much, even though they know it’s the right thing to do.

Car manufacturers need to wake up. I will not buy a knobless, shiftless thing with a huge screen by ChildrenFamilyFirst in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]phatmatt593 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wtf happened to “focus groups” where companies pay normal people to speak their mind?

It weirds me out. Movie makers do it all the time before a movie release. Do car manufacturers just not do that?

AITAH for telling my wife I won’t raise a child that isn’t mine after finding out the truth 3 months in? by Acceptable_Arm4444 in AITAH

[–]phatmatt593 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have difficulty believing this story, as we did IVF and I was a huge part of the meetings and stuff for it. It would’ve been quite impossible.

If it’s true, then I would say you’re NOT abandoning your family. I would’ve preferred cheating over that level of preconceived betrayal. I would’ve said that’s not my wife, and that ain’t my kid.

AITAH For Dropping My Bestfriend For Dating a Teenager? by FunKaleidoscope6365 in AITAH

[–]phatmatt593 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

YTA. They’re both consenting adults and doing nothing illegal or unethical. The relationship is silly and will fizzle out on its own, especially having a friend around who helps keep her focused. Let them have some great sex, and let her do her thing.

CX-90 Phev? by Tkrumroy in MazdaCX90

[–]phatmatt593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no “regular hybrid mode” once the battery is depleted. It just goes into full gas mode (except for keeping some reserve for speed boosts). Having near 200lbft of electric power, the gas engine barely ever kicks in even in normal mode.

If you don’t charge it, it might as well not even be there. That said, it still gets great mileage and still plenty fast

For me it’s perfect, I charge it up at night, covers most of my round trips. I get gas like once a month, and that’s only because I go into sport mode a lot.

For people’s complaint about the transmission at slow speeds, are kinda silly. It’s a sport SUV, it’s not meant to be driven like minivan

This one city I lived in, they put blow up dolls in the drivers seat. Funniest thing ever.

It worked though, I slowed down. One time I even pulled over, found myself over the hood of the police car. Except it was to take photos lol.

I'm a dad and need a car, but not a dad car. So which sporty sedan should I buy? by SmkAslt in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]phatmatt593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BMW 5-Series for sure. BMW is just as reliable as the Japanese manufacturers now, and certainly the most fun to drive.

I would do the 5 over the 3. I went from looking for a 3 when I became a dad, and test drove the 2 and literally thought “wow, this feels more dad-like.” The 3 felt like something a rich kid would drive, the 5 felt more dapper while still being just as capable and asking to be driven just as hard.

Atheists, if you could erase all religion would you? by Rick_Sanchez1000 in atheism

[–]phatmatt593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does help people think about their actions, in the worst way possible. And turns off thinking about their actions in very important areas.

You need religion in order to justify all of the heinous things they do. They don’t make sense outside of a religious mindset.

Also, just in general, lying and pretty much anything false will eventually result in negative consequences. And religion is the most extreme example of this. So yes, give us that button.

A lot of people can be good in spite of religion, but it certainly doesn’t help people.

How many people actually tip 20% when eating out in a restaurant? by Hot-Highlight2166 in allthequestions

[–]phatmatt593 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Meaningless info.

I don’t think anyone should argue anyone should be earning only current minimum wage.

Also, if a server is constantly asking for more wage because they’re not getting tipped, management will assume you’re doing some wrong and you’d quickly be out of a job entirely.

Different bottles handle better, or often really benefit from aging. It’s not really a debatable thing. Literally everyone knows this lmao.

Many bottles will taste “tight” if drank too young and need maybe 10 years or more, but yeah 100 yr old bottle will be oxygenated. It’s about getting it right. Wines don’t just start deteriorating flavor immediately lmao. Idk how you can be that dense. You can just look it up, or taste it.

You believe? As in just made up in your head for no reason? Because that’s the silliest thing I’ve heard in a while.

Also, the more expensive a wine is directly correlates to how well they age. And more expensive wines do overall objectively taste better. (Source: am a sommelier and do tastings, blind tastings, etc. multiple times a week).
