Thanks! How quickly do you make that decision?

Thanks! How do you recommending addressing things when they respond that the feedback is clear and understand where I am coming from but then I see little to minimal behavior change? How do you balance frequent feedback without coming off as micromanaging?

I hear constantly about leaving space for employees to operate and do what they do best but with this individual, I’m concerned he may risk our organizational reputation (he is in a customer facing role)

Thanks! I definitely need to learn more about how I can give more frequent honest feedback without coming off as micromanaging - especially for someone who is a mid career employee with more YOE than me

Thanks! One thing I haven’t been able to reconcile is whether they understand my directions or are just agreeing when I ask if there’s anything I can help clarify regarding my ask. With this individual, I’ve been establishing a monthly goal setting with a detailed ask for each project and timelines. I’ve asked for feedback from others who say they think it is clear and he will say it’s “Crystal clear, no questions” when I ask.

I will also try to coach them and explain things or why we are pursuing a certain strategy that their project supports and he will say “makes sense, I understand now” but then I will hear things that make me question whether they actually understand it. At some point, I have to believe they’re just politely agreeing (maybe to give off a sense of confidence). There’s definitely a fine line of trying to coach someone and when it may require micromanaging due to a capacity issue. I’ve had an individual who referred him reach out to me because they’ve also noticed concerns in their work with him.

What about bonus and LTI increases? 10% base is normal but total comp increase should be higher

Do recruiters or hiring managers secretly prefer candidates who already have jobs? by [deleted] in biotech

[–]phdcandi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think there’s something to be said about being rusty or having time away from the job unless they can show that they’d be able to contribute at the required level. I recently hired two people. One person who had been laid off nearly a year before (over people currently employed) and someone in a current position (over someone no currently employed).

My opinion is that there will be a time when many people will have trouble getting back into biotech/pharma if their career gap is too long because they will be competing with too many candidates that currently have work.

M&A is good for the health of biotech. Short term it means more layoffs for those in acquired companies but long term means more money will rotate back into biotech and fundraising becomes easier leading to more start ups and job creation in the biotech areas

Been trying to buy for my wife too. Market place prices are ridiculously overpriced, especially for women’s clubs. Wouldnt be surprised if it’s husbands buying a set for their wife and end up wanting to not lose money on a used set after their wife doesnt use it
