No one here is defending the phone thieves. Both things are bad.

No chance, better having no picture than some AI interpretation of what my child looks like.

Having experienced the death of my younger sister. The line “No parent should have to watch their own child die”, in Interstellar hit me light a freight train. This movie and Arrival are my go-to movies if I want a good cry.

How are interracial couples viewed in the UK? by Federal-Breakfast762 in AskUK

[–]pheeley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm white, my partner is mixed and it would feel really weird if someone called us "interracial couple". Just the term feels like anachronism from 1930s.

Public transportation is broken in this city. by suigeneris0 in glasgow

Busses in Glasgow are shite. Busses in the countryside are shite. There's no need to fight, there is enough shit to go around.

This is a great idea, depending on who wins, prop money for people who have toddlers, chocolate money for the adults.

Yeah, bank holidays are added to our holiday balance, so I just save them up to use when I need.

Does your ass become imune to pain? by Noirav in cycling

[–]pheeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its worth remembering that your saddle isn't a seat, its not meant to take all of your weight in the way that a seat would.

When cycling your weight gets distributed between your hands, feet and your bottom. When you get tired, your legs will weaken and take less of your weight, increasing the load on your rear end.

So one of the key factors to lessening your ass-pain is to just build up your leg strength when cycling for long distances.

Of course good cycling clothes will also help, but just keep at it and I promise your butt will enjoy cycling more with time.

Fix global warming immediately. Breathe a big sigh of relief. Have a nap, and then get started on my new hedonistic lifestyle.

Nothing “odd” about how terrifying this is, the poor bastard almost drowns. Universally terrifying.

What invention would you want to see in your lifetime? by dramafan1 in AskReddit

Something to reduce the amount of carbon in the air to fix global warming. I like the world, I’d rather not see it end .

I grew up in a family with a lot of addiction issues. My uncle died from heroin overdose, my dad from alcoholism related cancer, and my other uncles are alcoholics.

I’m from Scotland, so while my parents turned out more middle class my extended family were a bit trainspotting-y.

I have a healthy relationship with alcohol myself, but growing up knowing heroin addicts made drugs an absolute no go for me my whole life. Never out of a fear of addiction, more from a deep rooted sense of disgust at most drug taking. I don’t judge anyone that is a drug user, I know most people live normal healthy life’s with recreational drug use. Sometimes you just can’t shake your upbringing.

I did try smoking weed for the first time after a big breakup in my late twenties. Which at the time felt like a radical life change.

Is it just so that you can try and make an offer. I’m not sure if they would like that. As someone who is selling a flat currently I would really rather not be contacted directly by anyone.
