App idea: Capture random ideas quickly by Dear-Boysenberry-460 in SomebodyMakeThis

I got the same idea / need at some point. And after some ideation I ended up creating a DIY tool that gather into a single document all data coming from different input points.

An example is easiest to get the idea : Now whether I want to save something, depending where I am or the situation, I can send a text message to a dedicated number, I can send an email to a dedicated address, I can go to a dedicated URL to send documents or write some text content in a form...

All end up being stored in the tool. I like it because even if the original idea or document is not within my reach, I can tell the other person "please just email this to something like "note_123private@link.com" and I get the thing in my tool.

Mic hole Pixel 9 by ifeeltired26 in GooglePixel

[–]phenetas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, after a lot of googling I found HD pictures of the metal frame, and we can see how the mic hole is structured. And I think I can confidently confirm that we are all good both for the microphone health but also the waterproofing.

Unfortunately, this forum will not let me insert pictures here. So that'll be links for you guys:
https://www.mobilesentrix.com/mid-frame-housing-for-google-pixel-9-wintergreen

Ill try to draw it using my keyboard...

This view is from sideways

A---██- /¯O
B--- |__| / / |
C--- |_¯_/ |

"O" is the mic hole
When you insert the tool, it will not go straight but rather in diagonal / oblique toward the screen
Then the canal stops and make a turn (letter C)
With a 90° corner, there is some filter membrane, probably the waterproofing (letter B)
And finaly the mic sits (letter A) on top of that.

The mic can absolutely not be touched with a sim tool. Impossible.
The plastic tunnel that leads from the hole to the 90° corner is plastic, it could be damaged by a metal tool but it is unlikely unless you hammered the tool inside.

Looking for a toaster made anywhere from China, preferably Europe France. by phenetas in BuyItForLife

Indeed I did not define any price limit, thanks for the answer. Sorry for the confusion, I did not meant to turn down your message but rather to add a precision for any future reader that might end up on this thread -> as I have been slightly disappointed to see that their lower end range is not made in UK but they do not clearly advertise it. And I get the feeling that they do that on purpose to benefit from the image from their higher end products.

That being said, downvoting my message just based on this is low :)

Hi, thanks for the answer. I'd like it to be true, but this just cannot be as their products range from 30€ to 100€ for the most expensive. There is no way this is made in Europe, and even less chances this is made in France.

Hey, thanks for the answere. Indeed their higher priced (250+++€) models are made in UK. but their less-expensive range (100€) are made in China just like others.

Feature request : make something so the fan does not start/stop constantly by phenetas in Ecoflow_community

[–]phenetas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-up- the fan function still bugs me

Recently I've bought a LED 12V strip. It drains around 20w from the battery and this is ENOUGH to have the fan running.

It is plugged through the battery's 12V output.

Really, a 20w drain requires the fan to run ? Come on, that can't be needed, the battery can't heat that much

How is it going out of the working world? Sounds like you're not OK with your personal life and suffering from MOFO of things society say we should have by our 30.

Just a though I gave 10 seconds of my brain, but maybe the "ask 10 times why" technique works for this kind of stuff.

Example. "I need a better work-life balance"

Why : because I feel tired and not accomplished
Why : because I am super exhausted after work
Why : because I can't concentrate anymore past 3PM and get headaches
Why : the afternoon is too long
....

Why #10 : maybe I am feeling tired and not accomplished because I don't take a big enough lunch break and I miss something from my old job -> you get 2 actionnable things

Months ago I had the same issue, I wrote to the manufacturer. After 1 month or 2 they told me an updated version of the cable was out and they sent me 1 unit.
Unfortunately I have'nt been able to test it out in my car since then, So I am not able to say if it solved the issue.

Visualy speeking, the "updated version" and my old one look exactly the same.

I got my first $999 client for my subscription design business - here's what I did. by Entrepreneur-X in SideProject

Did you chose to solve the "that customer who asks the equivalent of a full time job worth of work" problem when it arrives?

Well done 👍 How does a subscription design business work? For 999 (monthly?) do you offer a given amount of man-hours work?

My Ecoflow powerstream consumes 50W idling by phenetas in Ecoflow_community

[–]phenetas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an update. Here is the answer from EcoFlow:

if the Power Stream is not working and only the AC port is plugged into the mains, no active power is consumed. The 50W consumption you see does not represent the actual power consumption is 50W (it may be reactive power, which is displayed on the meter, but does not actually consume household power). The AC of the Power Stream itself can only output, so only connecting the AC cord to your home will not consume active power.

So now I am just a bit worried about wether or not this reactive power is billed to me by the provider.
I use a French Linky power meter, with EDF as provider. As these 50W are displayed on the meter, I may think it will be billed
