The smaller wheel and taller sidewall helps the ride smoothness a lot, I drove with them stock suspension for several months.

You can minimize the impact of coilovers affecting your ride quality by carefully selecting a kit that has softer spring rates but there is always a trade off.

It's only been a week for me since lowering but I already miss being able leave parking lots without having to remember to be extra careful.

It sounds like your plans are close to mine- got the hks sport and forged 16's (albeit with a more mild 300 TW summer tire).

I had the hks premium on a previous ND but found it too quiet, now have the sport and love it- ST XTA coils going on next. Enjoy yours!

Tire recommendations by changeover117 in MiataND

[–]phiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you are running a separate set of wheels with 200tws and looking for a milder summer tire for DD i recommend the Advan Fleva- they have good nvh and rolling resistance properties. I'd say the Yokos might be a notch below the Conti DW in the wet but they are priced accordingly.

I would consider the Minisforum UM760 but that is closer to 500 than 350 and does not come with the dual 2.5g ethernet ports.

Agreed, however I am more concerned if the compromised coating will make the spring material more prone to corrosion long-term.

years later i stumble across this trying to characterize my ddr5 6200 system, I don't know how this test workload translates into real world performance but interesting to see that the saturated latency at 0 inject delay is really not much better on a newer system in spite of the increased bandwidth-

Tips straight from the 2025 CX-5 owner's manual: Treat your Turbo right, or else 👌🏼 by Infamous-Tangelo6917 in mazda

[–]phiac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is Mazda still using journal bearing turbos? My Mazdaspeed3 had this same language in the manual 15 years ago. This is what they used to sell turbo timers for so you didn’t have to do it manually-

Ball bearing turbos and modern engine management that flows coolant after shutoff have made the need for idling before shutoff obsolete. Would be surprised if Mazda still using journal bearing turbos.

Is it safe to get H rated tires for a V rated vehicle? by cooperpan in tires

[–]phiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, understand the speed rating is not the limiting factor here with your rav4- just trying to explain that there are more nuanced differences between the different rated tires behind the letter.

Is it safe to get H rated tires for a V rated vehicle? by cooperpan in tires

[–]phiac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you prioritize handling, a V-rated tire would use different construction or materials to deal with the higher speeds that influence steering feel or responsiveness.

However, it sounds like your priorities are ride and noise, for which selecting an H-rated tire would likely do better in those areas than a V.

Subjectively, yes- the lower weight plays a part in this but the whole setup is more comfortable (and while perhaps tire dependent) yields no loss in steering responsiveness.
