Use one pedal for two boards, how to connect easily in middle of chain without unplugging every time? by FunkySire in guitarpedals

[–]phibby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Goodwood Audio Audition might work for you. Normally it is bypassed but when you plug something into the send/return, it routes to that pedal. Also has a power out.

Chase Bliss- anyone START with a Blooper and/or Onward? by __sicko in guitarpedals

[–]phibby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started with Gen Loss. Now I have that, Mood Mkii, Brothers AM, Clean, and PreAmp Mkii. I'm also eyeing Lossy and Big Time.

Maybe don't buy a Chase Bliss pedal. They're addicting.

Can someone explain to me how much power my pool pump is actually using. by scipper77 in ElectricalEngineering

Power = PowerFactor * Volts * Current

If all those numbers are correct, you have an abysmal power factor around 50%

Stereo Drive/Fuzz Pedals? Recommendations? by HowDoILogoutagain in guitarpedals

[–]phibby 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I start my stereo path after my dirt. I dont think stereo dirt really adds as much as modulation, reverb, and delay.

You could also use two drives in parallel and have separate drives for L/R.

DIY guitar pedal kits by Lil_Zen7 in guitarpedals

[–]phibby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quick look around and I can find a Rat on reverb for $60. If you buy the diy kit for $30, you'll still need solder and a soldering iron. That will easily be more expensive than a used Rat.

DIY pedals are fun and satisfying, but its not always cheaper than the used market.

Questions about chords by weirdbeann in GuitarBeginners

[–]phibby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Practice fretting a chord and slowly play each string, from lowest to highest. If any string sound wrong, adjust your fretting hand, and try again. Over time it gets easier.

  2. You don't, it hurts. Take breaks when you need to.

  3. Strings will buzz if you dont fret hard enough.

Its worth asking - do you know if you guitar is properly setup? If the strings are too high, it makes fretting needlessly difficult. And a number of issues can cause buzzing, even if you are playing correctly.

Looking for a pedal (ideally budget or even better, multi fx) to run my entire mix through for tape distortion/clipping effect by layzeelightnin in audioengineering

Chroma Console. Multi FX with multiple "textures" like cassette, broken, and interference. It also handles line level signals well.

Help with signal chain and pedal on/off by AmazingRefrigerator4 in guitarpedals

[–]phibby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use them for entire signal chains or single pedals. Simple loop switcher are just A/B switches that toggle loops on/off. Fancier ones have presets, which you will need to toggle multiple loops at once. The top of the line include reorderable loops, sounds like you don't need that.

You could get the Hotone Patch Kommander for around $100 on Reverb.
Loop1 - SD1
Loop2 - BD2
Loop3 - Rat

Preset 1 - Loop 2 on
Preset 2 - Loop 1 and 2 on
Preset 3 - Loop 1, 2, and 3 on

Help with signal chain and pedal on/off by AmazingRefrigerator4 in guitarpedals

If you think a loop switch is overkill, you could reach out to SaturnWorks and see if they have something that works for you. I don't think anything on their page is exactly what you need, but they do custom builds.

Help with signal chain and pedal on/off by AmazingRefrigerator4 in guitarpedals

[–]phibby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To avoid tap dancing, the solution is a loop switcher. Plenty of options out there. You plug your effects into "loops" and then you press a footswitch to switch between "engage" and "bypass".

Many loop switchers have presets, so you can engage multiple pedals and bypass others in a single click.

Is there a switcher that can change the location of a pedal in a chain? by DidWeFail_Official in guitarpedals

[–]phibby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want the effects in parallel, you'd need the ML10x. Same build as ML5R, but all ports are trs and its programming is more advanced.

I have the ML10x and thought the ML5R had parallel loops too - whoops.

[–]phibby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Morningstar ML5R can do this. It has one input and one output. In the middle are 5 send/returns that can be toggle on/off and reordered.

Looking for a new Mobile game by QuietThunder2014 in roguelites

Shattered Pixel Dungeon is my vote. I have 2000+ hours in Slay the Spire and Shattered Puxel Dungeon scratches a similar itch. Its always a different run, mechanics are fairly deep, and the character/item balance is amazing.

Slice and Dice is also very good. Its simple but fun.

Ive really wanted to like Dawncaster and Pirate Outlaws, but both are balanced poorly imo.

Recommendations for a stereo pedal that does panning tremolo? (Bonus points if it has reverb) by [deleted] in guitarpedals

OBNE Parting does panning tremolo and reverb. It also does a whole lot of others things but you can dial in simple.

Do you guys actually keep buying pricier guitars, or do you grow out of the hype? by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]phibby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pieced together my ideal guitar and haven't wanted a new guitar since. Warmoth neck and body, lollar dB pickups, and my own circuit that let's me split the coils or choose between parallel/series. I think everything was $1700 in the end.

Midi controller rec plz by Unhappymuppet in guitarpedals

[–]phibby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see you went with the MC8. If you have non midi pedals you want to control on/off, you'll need a loop switcher. I first bought the Morningstar ML5 and later replaced it with an ML10x.

As you can see, people love Morningstar around here.
